Ok to move them out? help, pics their big!

Mine would flip that bowl right over in a matter of minutes...

Maybe keeping them out when it is nice and bringing them in at night/bad weather only might help keep down the mess?

I agree with Amiga that the drafty cold might still be too much. Mine are only 3 wks now but I have them out as much as possible (nice warmer weather, then bring inside when I leave house/ it gets cold and breezy) and they are always under the lamp at night. Not only are they REALLY happy with their outside time, they are also happy to cuddle under the heat lamp, and the mess is considerably less than them being locked up 24/7.

Same issue here, blech on the mess and smell.
George the Cayuga duckling and 1 Spirit the EE chick are living in my living room, in a wire dog crate that has a layer of aviary wire and then a layer of plastic. The wire is to keep the cat and dog out and the plastic is to keep the shavings in and the water in.

It smells though, despite complete change of shavings every other day.

They are 5 weeks old, George is the size of a Mack truck and his mess is just that a mess.

Garage isnt an option here as its detached, no room and I would not be able to see them constantly.

Cannot wait for them to go outside and mess be gone from my living room.

I like your garage setup, nice pen!!!

I always feel like I have a horse barn with several stables, but the horses are chickens, when I go in there.

I don't think those babies have enough feathers yet to protect them from the elements. I like your garage set up in the last photo, looks great!

I know the Khaki are close, though! Yesterday I saw the start of their real wing feathers coming in. Pic after work of that.
Soon I'll be free from the mess!!!
But then again, I did get suckered into 3 Mallard ducklings yesterday.....

Khaki have all their feathers but their wings and heads.

Moved them outside, found some wood boards and closed off 3 sides.
