OK to not put eggs under broody hen for a few days?

Our hen went broody yesterday but we are thinking about pulling what is under her and putting everything we want to hatch under on friday. Our local farm store is getting a chick shipment 3 weeks from saturday and we were hoping to buy a few sexed chicks to add under her. Is it likely she will stay broody if we wait a couple more days? This is only our second time hatching babies (she hatched a few last summer) so we are still learning. Thanks!

If she's fully committed to being broody, she will remain so - no worries.

Yes you can do that with swapping eggs on Friday....You will need to Time it perfectly if your wanting to add more Chicks to her hatch...The new Chicks will need to be under or around 24 hours old and the Hen will need to be still on hatching mode or she won't accept the new ones at all..A Hen cant be fooled.........

You wait till the eggs settle and become room temp.. so if you get them Saturday lay them on a towel on your counter and them turn them once before you pop under your Hen......

Another option would be to put some golf balls or ceramic eggs under her until your chick order comes in. Unless, of course, you want her to hatch some of your own as long as she's in the mood.

Whoops! I must have misread the first post. I thought OP was waiting on a chick shipment to come in three weeks.
