Ok, what's the trick??

Aprophet, could you help? It doesn't glow like a nonviable duck egg would, it is more like have you ever held a seashell up to a bright light? You can tell there's a light behind it but you can't see anything. How to explain, the light doesn't seem to go through the shell so much as around it. Is it bad or is it impossible to tell without a stronger light?
To be on the safe side, I'm chucking nothing unless it starts to smell!

Shine the light down through the 'big end' of the egg, it will 'light up' inside. If it only lights up in the air cell then leave it, if the whole egg lights up then it's no good. Candle them in a dark room and cup your hand around the light, laying the egg on top of your hand, if you have to.

Here's A Tiny Question That May Be Quite Important.... How Long Are The Eggs Incubated When You Try To Candle Them? Most Likely Your Not Going To See Veining In A Coturnix Egg, Usually The Best You'll See Is The Same As Everyone Else Is Describing--- Darkness And A Clear Air Cell, However If Very Early In The Incubation You Wont See Darkness As Jr Isnt Big Enough To Cause It Yet

X2 the ones that are non viable have sorta a green glow. I cup the egg after I make a circle with my thumb and forefinger then the mag light goes underneath
