Wish me luck. It is day 10. I have not candled to this point. I will be tossing the non-fertile eggs.

Shoot, it looks like my headlamp wont be enough light. It isnt getting a good seal. ::sigh:: thank goodness we get to learn from our mistakes. everyone is back in the bator for now.

Oh, I did see the air cell on the eggs. I was looking for red veins but couldnt find any. I only looked at maybe 8 before I just shut the lid and walked away.

Does anyone have a suggestion of something that could be purchased at a local store that would work for candling? I have seen those 10 LED light flashlights. I tried my headlamp which has a few LED's in them but it did not form a tight seal and I am not sure if it was bright enough?

I have some of Henry's bantam Faverolle eggs due on the 25th. Six of them were definite goers on day 10, ( I have a projector light to candle) Really pumped about that. They came all the way to Alaska.

Yeah, I guess I could see the air cell on the eggs but the interiors just didnt light up.

Get a single beam maglight flashlight. The headlamps if they have more than one bulb seem to spread the light too much. I have a single beam headlamp that works way better than the multi beam ones even though they supposedly have more lumens.

I just got a 1 LED light yesterday to candle my eggs, none of the flashlights we had worked very well. Some of the eggs are still hard to see through, but we will see how it goes.
