When my twins were born I kept the first born of the two’s toenails painted for the first two years of her life so I could tell them apart. They are identical and at 22 their grandmother still can’t tell them apart.
Actually, I have a small pair of surgical scissors, and cut the web out. You do each bird in it's own pattern so each breed has it's own. They make a toe punch tool that punches a small hole, but these can sometimes heal closed, so that is why I cut the webbing instead.

The zip ties are a great idea!!!........what does the TOH stand for??
and when do you change to velcro rings and why??
TOH = Tuffoldhen
Orpington chickens have huge feet and legs. They grow fast and thick. The velcro is soft and won't constrict or grow into their skin like a zip tie can. You must watch the zip ties VERY closely.
