Okay. I'm done now.

Well, yesterday was almost swimming weather, mid 70'S. Today it is droping into the 60's. I do know what you are going though. Those days were here a few weeks ago and are headed back in the days to come. As long as the ground doesn't freeze belos the 21 foot level I should be O K this year. Buried all the water lines that deep to all the watering stations. Also added heaters to everything. If I can get the grand kids here more often, I won't need to do any feeding or egg collecting. With 10 cord of wood just outside the door, I hope to sit back and enjoy the winter. Planing ahead may bite me in the backside, for ole Mother Nature knows how to throw curve balls.

Yep, it got a bit nippy here, too. Yesterday the high temp was only 78 degrees! Brrrrr! And at night you better get inside cuz it might drop down to 50!

In Illinois....30/13 and some flurries.

Flurries just made white air for a while...didn't stick.

Just had my leaves mowed over and the chickens are thinking those leaves are fun to kick.

and i had to plug in the waterer...no gettin around it.

I remember last Jan. here....worst winter since 1978-1979...in recorded history. Think we are gonna have a repeat?

Jan. threw us a wild tornado and did quite a bit of destruction and at least one injury. Kind of wild to have a tornado in these parts in Jan.! Papers showed people-volunteers--all bundled up in heavy snowsuits....helping pick up debris in feilds. brrrrr.

There was so much ice on my drive, I could have charged admission for an ice rink. Then it melted and went in my garage over my feet-slosh---then froze again. I had to call a good ol farm boy to come help me get my van out----tires were frozen to the ground.

Times like that...best to stay in if at all possible.

Take care all.

me,

oh cry me a river....or a duck pond....near the coop....shaped like a kidney bean....and at least 4 feet deep in the middle.
