The rooster that I found, and have been holding on my lap every night, lets me rub and scratch his neck under his feathers. Problem is...little tiny reddish orange creepy crawlies about the size of maybe a very skinny flea, but bigger than lice that goats get. WHAT ARE THESE and what will they do to ME? Are these the mites you guys told me about? Sevin dust on the chicken, but what about me??? I immediately stripped off all of my clothes and took a shower and washed my hair. YIKES!!!

Sounds like mites.

Need to take care of those before they spread. I'm new though, so I don't know any remadies.

It does sound like red mites. There are effective treatments available at your poultry suppliers.

You will need to treat the coop, probably your other chickens, but not yourself as they do not live on humans.
