Well, when I was in Columbus going to college, my buddies informed me that I was intimidating (because I knew how to work on trucks, grew up working on a farm, and worked on the grounds maintenance crew for the college). I never got asked on a date during the 1.5 years I was at OSU main campus. So, I gave the dating sites a shot.
I met a guy through my (online) 4 wheel drive club and on our 4 wheeling trips in NC. We became friends and talked mostly online (he was from VA). We ended up dating - maybe saw each other once a month and talked online and on the phone. He was a great guy, but he was a city boy who didn't think he could live on a farm and I was a country girl who couldn't see herself moving to VA and living in town, so we parted ways.
I tried Eharmony.com and was totally unimpressed with the folks it matched me up with.
I did the whole Hot or Not thing (like everyone else I knew when I was in college) and met a guy through there (He actually loved me for the same reasons my college buddies were intimidated by me). We dated for a few months, but determined we had different goals in life and we broke up.
I tried FarmersOnly.com, but there weren't many people in my area. One guy on there lived near enough, but was almost old enough to be my dad, so that never went anywhere.
Then I came home after college once I found a job locally and ran into my husband at a mutual friend's house. The 5 years age difference scared us at first, but several months later we started dating and we've been inseparable ever since.
