Okay so tell me again why I shouldn't get Java

I have 1.2 Java's, and 1.3 Greens "Not Spauldings or Emeralds". Ive had them for about 2/3 rds of the year. Winter was not bad at all. The Roost is a Flat 2X4 so there toes cant fit nicely under there body and keep them warm. They had no heat during the winter. 1/2 of the top of the pen is covered with 3 shade tarps to block out the sun on half of the pen. The roost is Under the Shade area.

My Java's and Greens were real flighty when I got them, but after 7 months... they have calmed down. I can go in there pen now and pick up eggs and they dont go crazy. They just walk around me. Males have never show any agression to me.

I guess it all depends on the birds, location, and enviroment. My Pens are in a wooded area, have the veiw of the river and wide open spaces. No neighbors, trafic or any noise.

Best of luck to those who are having trouble.

P.S. Im in SOUTH SOUTH Texas.

Steve, glad Doug answered as it doesn't get that cold here. Many winters no frost at all, some winters the nights hit 33-32 a couple times, normally only for a few days or at most a couple weeks before it goes up to mid/high 30's- low 40's at nights. About 15-20 years there can be a "Big Freeze" when it hits 28 degrees.. lethal cold to us CA folks.

Javas/spaldings have handled that okay but am also lucky that it warms up to averages of 40-60F in between the cold periods here

Good luck and be sure to let us know how human feet handle perches...
