One day you may end up working at the County Fair.....Like Grace!

She is the over the Poultry barn again this year.
She started receiving entries last evening and so far (noon today) there are over 225 entries. Last year we had over 400 so we will see if the heat affected any of the locals.
She is also judging the bantam class and she will start that around 6pm tonight so this will be a very long day for Grace. She had to be at the barn at 8am and she probably won't complete the judging/ribbon hanging and paperwork until around 1-2am.

We mis Grace's story's about her bird's it wasnt that long ago she was posting all her wen's on hear....

That's what I was afraid of lol. That makes 3 males then and 5 females out of that hatch. Good thing I got an extra 3 girls from Carl :) Yikes, I'm running out of birds......cuz I believe you're supposed to subtract 3 hens for every roo, correct?
MJ, thanks! I seriously feel like I gave birth to these babies myself. My only hatch attempt and I'm still in awe of the little creatures.

The State Fair at OKC doesn't have poultry. The one in Tulsa does. It is strange that the OKC fair doesn't but they just have cows, goats and horses.
The only place you can see chickens is at the Farm exhibit building.

The large hatcher with chicks pipping out of eggs is located in the AGtropolis area, which is in what used to be called the "Made in Oklahoma" building. The beekeepers have a display in the same area

Hey everyone!

Kinda skipped around to get caught up on post. Have not been on line much in the last week. Sunday morning when I got up I noticed my puppy Harley was acting lethargic and would not eat, so I syringed water and a mash into him then he ate kibble from my hand. Monday morning he would not eat or drink so I took him to the vets at Petsmart since they are the only one open, aside from the outrageously expensive emergency vet clinic. Anyway he has parvo, so I have been doing sub-Q IV fluid pushes, to keep him hydrated. Unfortunately the vet did not give me anything for nausea so he could not keep anything on his stomach, so I bought Dramamine and gave him a 1/4 of a tablet at a time so he could keep food down and electrolyte enema pushes (not something I ever want to have to do again)

. Today he is much better, still not eating on his own but does not need the Dramamine to keep food or fluids down. Right now I am totally exhausted because I have been having to get up every hour for the last 4 days to stick something in him. Tonight I may get to sleep, since he is doing so great.

Once again I have to say how lucky I am to be working where I am. My principle was totally okay with me bring Harley to work with me everyday this week. All the teachers and staff have been so wonderful, not just about this but about everything. Only thing I wish is I would have transferred to Moore sooner. I feel truly blessed because this is an awesome district and school to work for.

Oh who is planning on going to Blanchard this Saturday! I am so looking forward to going. Newcastle was great last weekend and so was hanging out with all my BYC friends afterward. We need to do that more often. It was a blast!!!!

Well folks, hope everyone has a great Friday tomorrow. TGIF for sure, this week.
