***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Quote:
Oddly enough, OKC allows residents to have reptiles (snakes, lizards,) amphibians (frogs, salamanders) fish (many different kinds - fresh and saltwater,) not to mention cats, dogs and rodents (rats, rabbits, mice,) but doesn't allow chickens.

Edited to add to the list other kinds of animals OKC allows: birds (parakeets, finches, parrots, cockatoos, and many others,) just not chickens.

hmmm..... wonder if they differentiate on the size? what if you had an exotic- say a silky or two in a parrot cage or a serama... yeah i'm fishing for answers for you...

So coyotes were loud last night, but that wasn't the real problem. Evidently there is a big black cat lurking around here. It tore up the guy on the corners horse. Last week they think it got some sheep down the road. Neighbor came up & told me to not let my girls run the woods alone & to make sure I tote my shotgun with me while I am out. DD overheard so now she is scared to walk down to the barn. Hope that I don't have any run ins with that cat! Don't see a reason to shoot it, bt if it is going after a grown horse it will probally go after anything.

Jarvis we would love to attend a show prep clinic. I asked DD & she was excited at the thought of learning how to show her birds. She still isn't sure what she would like to show, but I am sure she will figure it out.

Jan - Sorry to hear you have a yard patrol agent working overtime. When we lived in California, if wasn't uncommon to hear complaints if the kids left their bikes in the driveway rather than in the garage. A small gated community just down the road from our neighborhood did not allow any toys to be visible from the street, so people with kids had to put up privacy fences so their kids could play outside (or risk a hefty fine imposed by the keepers of the neighborhood covenants.)

If you haven't rehomed all your birds by the weekend, check with BYC folks close to you. Maybe somebody from the OKC area is headed to the Green Country Swap on the 17th. There might be a few 4-H kids interested in raising and showing some of your flock.

Lets pick a date and see who all would like to attend. Could be a good excuse for a get together over a grill and some good ole pot luck.. Would make for a better show season for several youngsters.
