One man's back-yard-chickens-in-town is another man's car-parked-on-the-lawn. Part and parcel of the same mentality. People wanting to dictate how other people live.
First things I did when I moved to my 8 acres was park my truck on the lawn and bought some chickens. Felt like freedom, to me. I now (mostly) park my vehicles in the drive, garage, or on the gravel because I don't want to ruin my lawn. I just don't like government entities or neighbors telling me what I can and can't do on my own property.
AAAAAmen!!! If one's own person or personal property is not being physically harmed, why does it concern them what their neighbors have or do?
Hello everyone! I have been hoping for the last couple of months that one of my Black Copper Marans was a pullet. Well, of course it's a boy!
I have had him since he was a few days old. The lady I got him from says they are Bev Davis, Wade Jean and Bryant line. He's about 51/2 -6mths old. I already have a BCM rooster (his brother) who has matured much faster, so I need to sale him. I MIGHT be going to the Green Country swap tomorrow and can bring him along. I would like to find another pullet or hen to replace this one. PM me if anyone is interested.
Always picked a bucket full and then sliced until I had enough...never weighed them. A quart is about 3 - 4 cups of sliced...so by bulk estimate...maybe 5 - 6 pounds...for 6 quarts since you will be adding chopped onions too.... about 1/2 onion for each jar.
If I stick my hand in the air and wave it around at the Newcastle auction, will all you fellow BYC-ers come say hello?
More likely, I'll end up with a bunch of chickens I didn't INTEND to buy!
In regards to the chicken ordinances, luckily we are on 2 and 1/2 acres in MWC, where we are zoned agricultural. We have goats, calves, guineas and chickens. Our only problem has been too many dogs. We would have to seek a zoning variance to get it zoned for a "kennel", but that would give up our agricultural status. We just keep the dogs in the house and our neighbors happy.

Thanks! I hope to find my ball canning book tonight too. That's my mission.

Me too!!! No matter how many times I see it, it still makes me smile. How does one submit a pic for the pic of the week competition? I've looked and don't see how to do it anywhere.
