That's cause ten minutes before I was begging for one, then someone picked one up and it made terrible noises and I remembered they grew up to be large pigs :-/

still whittling down the birds i don't plan on needing in upcoming projects.... these are the last, i should have gone ahead and sent them to the green country swap, the second set were faking being girls till they got to ksane!!...sigh
Ok Guys the official Invite for our Potluck Goodbye party is shown on my byc page..... I really do hope you all can come.. we will be leaving the state a few days later and would really like to have one good picture taken of everyone that have helped make our days here in Oklahoma wonderful...
No matter what Ksane says, I'm not funny... and Firefly69, I pointed out the pigs to Ksane right before we saw you (Told her she could get that hen, or did she want a pig??
)
The new EEs and BSLs are all dusted and dosed with ivermectin. Hanging out in the quarantine coop. The LF partridge cochins are hanging out in their quarantine coop. Hopefully everything will be ok. I'll be so upset if I lose any.

some guineas, frizzle chickens, a NN redish rooster, and assorted chickens that were originally acquired back in May at POOPS (including some bantams). Like everyone else, I am trying to cut my feed bill and my chore time by getting rid of some birds that are not part of my long term plans.
I'm doing the same.
Sold 12 chickens to a lady yesterday. She bought: 2 Porcelain D'uccle Bantam hens, 1 Splash Polish x bantam hen, 1 White Silkie x pullet, 1 Black Tailed White Japanese hen, and 1 silver/white mixed hen. She also bought 3 Standard hens. 1 white game x, 1 Golden Laced Wyandotte x Black Sex Link hen, and a crested mix hen named Pricilla.
Hoping to sell alot of my LF hens to a couple of people...
Another Bob-Cat attack last night!! Went to feed this morning and found feathers and blood stuck to the coop and a trail of black feathers leading out into the pasture.
Lost one of my Black Aussie cockerels, and he ripped open the stomach of one of my Aussie pullets! Please keep your fingers crossed for my little baby!

If you do try to trap the cat cover the live trap or leg-holds and then use urine from an ordinary house cat as bait. They just can't resist that.
If setting leg holds set them in groups of five, there will be less chance of it pulling out of a single trap.

I told my husband that unfortunately for those cute tiny pigs I happen to know what they grow up into lol

You *are funny! And you know a lot about chickens, too
Those baby EE's Mike had were adorable! Those Partridge Cochins have tiny baby feathers coming in all over their bodies. So they're going to be way puffier in a month or so. Robin said they were molting last month.
Yea, I'll take a hen over a pig ANYday. Those baby pigs are soooo cute but I can't take the squealing. And they don't like to be cuddled like my dogs and chickens.

I know as much about chickens as P&B, Al, NNBreeder, Monty, Mike and a few others taught me
Just wait... You are well on your way to chicken knowledge attainment
I was eyeballing their baby feathers earlier, kinda like baby hairs, they look kinda halo-ish.
My neighbor's boyfriend wants figure out a retriever-proof coop because he wants some chickens now. He offered to help me dust and re-worm in a week, his mom & sister apparently have free-range chickens but he wasn't aware that we could have them where we live. It depends on whether or not he can get his girlfriend (who owns the house next door, and the golden retriever) on board with chicken ownership. He and James were talking about building stuff when I was setting up the coop and quarantine quarters.
I'm not a big cuddler. My daughter cuddles things far more than I do, I'm kinda a hands off person. However, I like my chickens sociable and not flighty, so I spend a lot of time with them, just not necessarily picking them up. Chicken t.v. for the win!
