***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Very foggy out this am. I was snuggled up warm inside the house & DD saw a bunch of coyotes down by the barn. So venture out with the riffle but didn't see any coyotes in the fog. Honestly as foggy as it is could had been deer or anything else out there. She is just spooked at the though of running into a coyote.

Late last night the australian shepherd did bring a mole onto the porch. I let him keep it since he works so hard to dig those stupid things out of the ground. First time I have ever seen him actually catch one. Figure he will be digging @ the holes in the yard even more now!

Today's goal is sanitize the hatcher & take a trip to the post office. Not sure what else I need to get done.

Candled the guinea eggs I got @ auction 2 wks ago. Out of 5 dz I tossed 13 eggs that were not fertile or quitters. The eggs that were 2 wks old-- think tossed 2 of those. So the date didn't make a huge impact on the eggs. Only 2 more wks of hatching then we are taking a break. DD actually admitted that baby chicks are alot more work than big chickens. Took her a yr of non stop hatching before she was ready for a break. I sure she will be ready for more hatching come spring.

Just in case - I am going to remove the two chickens I put into the pheasant pen when I introduced a young hen that hatched this summer. I put the chickens in there because they were about the same size as the young pheasant and had been in the same cage with her for company. I figured the older pheasants would be less likely to pick on the young pheasant if she had buddies introduced at the same time.

The cross was quite common several years ago, for purposes other than a good looking bird. niether of the offspring are sterile, and are actually quite hardy. But I do believe you are correct about the use of the male in the cross.

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

Bobcat we shot Friday night (1:00 AM) He was trying to get in with my Seramas, but our dogs found him and treed him, then my sister shot'em out of the tree. Whamo!

New birds I picked up on Friday from a local breeder (A.K.A Enabler) friend.

What was the purpose?

Well, here are just some of the 11 that have hatched so far. 4 of them this morning. I did hear more chirping this morning before I left for work! Hopefully they will be ok without me watching every single move they make...lol

It got foggy last night before I went to bed, and AFTER I had just finished watching AMC's "The Walking Dead." My husband works out of town, so it was just me and the kids. To top off the mood, the neighbor had just told me a few days ago that she had seen "something really long, and black, with a really LONG tail" chasing (pretty successfully) deer in the pasture behind us. Apparently, there are some pretty well-repeated "rumors" of black panthers in this area.

I don't believe any amount of money would have gotten me to go outside last night.

Good Morning the fog is finally buring off here. It was a nice cool morning!
There is rumor of a black cat around here too.
What's everyone got going on today? What about the weekend?
