Patty, the guineas are settling in well. I put your three in an inner pen, with the two males from Greybear in an adjoining, outer pen. I intend to entice the two that have been loose since the raccoon attack into the other outer pen, which adjoins the pen with Greybear's, and is in front of the pen with my eight three-month olds. I guess these four pens form a quadruplex!
One of yours has been insisting on getting into the pen with the two males from Greybear, and made its way in today. The other two wanted in also, so I let them in this evening. The were all getting along well together. This was a big surprise, as they are adults and haven't been in sight of each other very long. They have the run of both pens right now, with high perches, which mine usually love. They also have plenty of places to get away from each other if need be. I'm hoping for a good result when I get my other two, a pair of royal purples, in with them, and later the youngsters. So far, however, the two loose ones don't seem interested in returning to that pen where the raccoons attacked. I think they are pretty safe in there now. If you ever want keets again, I should have some next season. Thanks again for making these beautiful birds available! I still haven't figured out which is the male. One of the hens laid a tiny (probably end of season) egg in the carrier on the way home.
