We got 1 and 2/10 inches of rain last night at home!!!

But I think we got some hail too, there were a lot of broken plants / leaves nothing w/ permenant damage though, I'll have to get Gary to look at the roof later, we were both gone overnight so I'll need to check w/ the neighbor to see how big or much hail we got.

Thankful for last night's rain...hope no one got that huge hail.

Somehow some folks just weren't born with much common sense. One of those someones definitely "isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer". He had two horses get loose in all this morning fog..on the highway where cars go 70 plus in a 65 mph zone even in the fog. Instead of taking the offer of a fenced lot to hold them until they calmed down and could be loaded and moved safely, he decided to herd them back down the highway to his property...never did say where. Even the local sheriff asked "Are you sure?" He ran his lights for a while, but the horses kept running east then west until they ran into a section of pasture across the road from us that was open at the other end. His young son was running thru the pasture trying to control them. They escaped to the north running along a dirt road with the man and son in pursuit. Because the horses weren't on the highway any longer the deputy responded to another call. The fog is lifting so hopefully if those horses reappear, drivers will see them.
Always something new in the country.

We had a great time at Blanchard last night. Since we stopped to eat we didn't get home until about 3am. Saw some old friends and made some new ones. It was especially great seeing Al and visiting with everyone. And I can't leave out Stella, she was charming as usual.

We took 7 roosters to sell and came back with, well, 7 birds. But only three of those birds are roosters so we came out ahead. We also took some ducklings to sell (4) out of six that we bought Sat. morning so selling four cancels out the two so again, we came out ahead.

Then there is the trio of Mad. games that we got from Oldcowboy but they are juveniles so again, they don't count as real chickens. So all in all it was a good night, sold seven and came back with three!!

P&B two of the birds we got are beautiful Malays and the other pair are O-Shamos. They are the sweetest birds and hopefully next spring I will get some little fuzzybutts from them. And I know how much you like birds like this.

Faerie that Showgirl is cute. I used to tease the breeders that to make a real showgirl there needed to be two more crosses made. First a modern game for the long legs and second a Cornish for a little enhancement of the frontal area. LOL You are going to really like those birds, Silkies are just too sweet and they love attention.

No rain in the big town of Kingfisher last night. it looks like it started just about a mile East of where we live but they only got a light rain.

Enjoyed the auction last night, too. I felt sorry for the sellers though because the birds were selling for next to nothing. Great deal for the buyers. I didn't buy anything but there were an awful lot of nice looking birds there.

It looks like there was plenty of rain here at the house while I was at the auction. The ground is soaking wet. Two of my chickens are missing now - the one who likes to sleep on top of the fence and the SL Polish who follows her around. I looked for them this morning but no sign of them yet. Hopefully they'll come home this evening.

The little Serama hen has been sitting on eggs for three days now. There were three in the nest when she first started sitting, then I put three more near her nest that had been in the refrigerator. She scooped those underneath her so she's sitting on six now. Don't know if they'll hatch or not, but will let her sit on them to try. Her boyfriend is lonely now with no one to play with.

Edited to add a photo of the Serama hen sitting on her eggs. She's so tiny and cute!

The serama hen is a doll... how tall is she?

spent the day reworking the banty coop- they were soaked last nite, i hate sheet metal roofs! have to finish filling nail holes in the sheet metal- those are on the side of the coop- i guess nail holes would cause drafts? not ventilation?
