***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I don't use the dividers & fill mine as full as I can. Depending on the eggs I have fit 24-30 eggs inside. With the eco the dividers are the worst feature, so when I do need something to support the eggs I usually cut egg cartons to fit in the spaces. I cut the bottom out of the cartons so airflow isn't restricted & bend the carton pieces to fit wherever I need them.

Enjoy your new Eco-- I prefer mine over the sportsman, only other thing I would change is I wish it was easier to clean the top after hatching. The fan & such get pretty dirty.

Don't forget to make one for the EE bantams, You Know You Want Them!lol

I made mine out of material I had own hand and they ended up being 7 1/2 ft long and are great for a half a dozen bantams. I have three ready now to put the wire on!

We just got back from the nursing home. They had a chilli cookoff. We threw a pot together using our Williams Chilli mix that we get in Okla.(can't find it here) We were the last entry, number 13! And we won first place! Prize was $300! Of course I had to cook it but she took the credit and bought me a can of pop for my efforts!

Been thinking about you all.

and of course work...
Hope this finds you all doing well.
We are looking for a NICE blue orp Rooster and another incubator.

morning guys! woke up to the cutest little crow this morning- little guy is now named Jethro- yes we are NCIS fans here... anyway- it just fits him, he is sitting in his cage by the window trying to figure out what those guineas are doing staring in the window at him....LOL! I can't get over what an attitude these little guys have...

meanwhile i have one little cochin sneeze in shaking her head, she is in isolation- can't hear anything in her lungs- suggestions for treatment?

Tylan 50 and Sulmet are both used for respiratory problems in chickens and they're both cheap and can be mixed into their water. Jethro sounds just darling

I don't know, I've never used it. There's packages of the powder at feed stores and it should have directions on it. Otherwise someone else here may know. I'm sure there's info on the web, too.

Three of us have been trying to catch guineas for the past hour. We thought we were smart and put netting over the walk-through half doors in the barn, herded about 20 of them into the barn and shut the big sliding door. Our goal was to get the guineas grouped around the feed on the floor and then drop a net over them. Great plan, except we tried to drop the net over them while they were huddled against the half door to the outside. They couldn't go through the top of the half door because of the netting, but they sure went through the bottom half of the door when it came open a little bit while we were trying to catch them against the door through the netting.

We finally caught about 6 of them by cornering them and using fish nets, but in the meantime - some escaped through a previously unidentified crack between the roof and a corner of the barn when we tried tried to get them off the top of the hay.
