***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Everything I have here at the moment is OE bantams, I have been looking for some real nice Rosecombs for a while, they will arrive next fall but would like to find two hens or pullets to get started with before hatching season hits.
Over the next few years I will be adding a few varieties of Rosecomb.

I think those colors will look outstanding on the Rosecomb body.

It was a show bird inside the garage in those pens, I bet I asked you what kind of comb he had and you said, rosecomb, maybe? I remember he was gorgeous.
Those pictures are so so pretty. Never in a million years would I have the patience to get into breeding like you do.

That's a pretty bird! My eyes can't tell pet quality from show quality and I wouldn't recognize a a bloodline if it knocked my front tooth out. But I know when I look at something and it's pretty or catches my eye. That's funny about bantams being 6-8 lbs. It makes sense, really, since the standards are huge. I just like how proud they look and I'm all about all their colors. How can someone look at them and not want one??

it is easy to look and not want one...I do it all the time!

I want bunches

They are truely the pinnacle of both strengh and tenderness. They will gently call chicks over and give them first dibs on any tid-bits found and if need be defend the same with their lives.

Plus they are just plain cool!

How do they get along w/ other chickens? Same breed or other? I was thinking there was some discussion about them being quite aggressive to other chickens, but I could be confusing them w/ some other breed. They also are the ones that only lay a couple times a year in batches right?

I'm in the same boat!

that was probably the sebrights, they are all gone now.. my son decided he was no longer going to show them and given how hard they are to breed and raise I sold them all while I had the opportunity.

If you or anyone else is looking to add a few OE for fun birds or yard birds I have a few color culls that will be free, as well as a few others that will be sold real cheap, or given to michael to sell or do with as he pleases.

What?
I see things I like but seldom buy, then there are times I have bought without thinking it through because the were cool.
I have learned to be very patient and get the right bird for what I want which is often a bit different than what others see, but we all get wrapped up in cool birds sometimes.

They are not flock chickens by any means. Some don't lay very well, and some lay very well.
