I'm way jealous and will have to con you out of eggs before long. Its probably better that I missed that auction, I would've hate to have to start wrestling you for them or something

(< me losing auction) lol. But really I'll have to see them and the other gorgeous birds youve acquired recently!
I can't see the Cochin pic

they sound pretty impressive and I'm glad a solution was found for those dogs that everyone can be content with

Good morning Okies! I'd better get in gear and get stuff done, I sure hope the weather isn't trying to get icky today, I've got too many things going on for icky weather.

Anyone know. Place that stocks LARGE submersible well pumps. 4in size-- but 1hp. Our pump went out last night, dh took it apart & got it working, but of course broke the threaded PVC piece off inside the top of the pump. We have no idea how old the pump is so would prefer just replace it with a bigger one while he has the pump pulled. Any thoughts where to look, so far tried locke, lowes, atwoods, and a few other small farm hardware places.

Those Columbians breed to a blue cochin will surprise you.. Very large and if you get the singe comb blue columbian with fetaher legs we may have to talk..

Isn't the single comb more dominant than the pea comb?

The Blue Wyandotte may have been bred by the Blue Cochin also... her eggs looked small.... but consistant on size. That cross would be interesting also
Since everyone has been posting neat pictures of their new birds, thought I'd put in some of the hen house reno.

Here is my new chicken riser with the Blue Wyandotte and the BLRW Joy checking it out. Four levels the bottom one is 8" high with the others 7.5 feet long. Had to have more roosting space for the flock.

New inside pencurrently has the SLW pair. Working on integrating the SLW roo and the CW roo today...but they had too many differences to work out. Once they get that settled, I can use that pen for breeding pairs out of the flock.

It looks a little crowded, but they all are down at one end of the pen...not used to the wheat straw and using the one doorway, so I locked them all in tonight.

Had to post a new baby picture. A Buff Minorca/CW , a SLW , a Aussie/CW and Lucie

Single comb is recessive to all other comb types.

Nana, your new roosting platform gives me good ideas! I started using wheat straw for bedding in the runs awhile back and like it a lot. It seems to disintegrate fast but it's easy to rake up and fluff around, the birds love it.
Does that work often to integrate grown roosters? I know I give up too soon, I can't stand to see fighting. But if it might actually work to do it your way that'd be incentive for them to work it out.
Jackie, that's the 1st thing I told my husband-that I was going to set you up with Faverolles eggs as soon as I started getting some

The auctioneer said the pair are from Patterson lines so some of the babies might make good looking birds. Course there's no way to know for sure where they're from, but I just had to have that boy cuz I liked him. I'd have bowed out and let you have the girls if you'd have wanted them but I'd have probably bawled if I hadn't gotten the boy lol
Jcatblum, if Locke Supply doesn't have them I'd be at a loss as to who does. They're the place we've always depended on in a pinch.

Tractor supply in Muskogee carries them in stock.

Thanks I will see how big pump they have. So far found 1 from a guy in Okc on 44 & meridian. Will be about $100 more than lowes but it is in stock so that is the important part! right now dh can't even find a place that has the right kind of fittings to even to temp repair the one we have! Being on a well is great but problems with the well are such a pain!

Ksane, I raised Old English Bantams for several years in 19 different colors, In my opinion (for what its worth) you have a Silver Blue Old English Game Bantam there, if it were a Blue Birchen the shouldn't be any silver on his back, now that said this bird could have came from a breeding of a Black Birchin Roo and a Blue hen, so as I said before this is my opinion, not ment to offend anyone as i am by no means an expert!!! With some breeding and heavy culling you could breed him to the Black Birchen hen and get Blue Birchin or you could try and clean up some of there offspring and show them as Silver Blue Duckwings! Haha! June, I don't know how one goes about getting that award but my guess is you got it because of your (extreme) generosity in giving away Serama boys and encouraging their use for pets. Channing wants you to know that if he knew how he'd have elected you
smile.png

And does anyone know what color this is called? Or if it's even a color? He's the Modern Bantam boy I got last night, he came with a Black Birchen girl. Yet one more breed that I'm just fascinated with. I'm assuming this color doesn't come in females?

Morning all, have to say I was bitten by the Chicken Auction bug this weekend, we took pigeons to sell and came home with 4 Buff hens, 1 Game Roo, 1 Americauna Roo, and 2 Game hens, had to jockey around birds to get them all penned when we got home but all is well now, still getting about 1-2 dozen eggs daily with lights on my birds. Hope all has a great day, Lynn
