***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Maybe I am missing it. But used to I could go to the okies thread & click new post & start reading where the thread was last time I logged on, now I only see to read where I posted last. Am I missing something???? I don't like it if I can't click new post anymore!

While I was away the past hour or so I was finishing up my seed orders for this yr, I know I still want to get corn & peanut seed-- but that will come from Ross Seed. Everything else is ordered. Kinda scared to see how many melon varieties I ordered! Over half the seeds came from Baker Creek. ~~just a tip I put the seeds in the shopping cart & didn't check out. Few days later they sent me a 5% off code. Still didn't check out. Then they sent a 10% off code, saved me over $18. Then I googled coupon codes for Johnnys & found a free shipping coupon, so another $16 saved. So maybe what I saved will cover the corn & peanut seeds.

Think I will start some seeds this weekend, I know I should have already had some going, but was waiting on the hoop house to be finished or my greenhouse to be put up. How is it we moved in may & my greenhouse is still in pieces in the barn???

Since the chicks have hatched I've put medicated chick starter out for the babies. The mama hen is eating it too, I think. Is it OK for her to be eating this?

It's funny to watch her with her chicks. She takes food out of the feeder and drops it for them. They can all reach the food in the feeder, so they're getting plenty to eat, and have been drinking from the chick waterer too. Today I dropped some dried meal worms in the brooder box. The mama went bonkers for them, so the chicks followed her lead. They already know how to play keep-away!

On a brighter note, I got my bee's & my hive ordered. Come on Spring time!!!!!

Hard to think of Spring right now with it snowing outside.

She's pretty! Nice shiny feathers. What other kinds of birds do you have?

bird/wire, she's a Black Star? She looks wonderful and real filled out. I love the green and purple sheen on black feathers. I've got a Black Star I got from someone here on the forum and her personality is awesome. She hops up up my husband's boots and rides around on his foot when he walks into their yard.
