***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Ksane-- if no other takers for the guineas they can join my flock here-- think we have around 50. A few more wouldn't be noticed or heard.

Oh thank you! Once I get the other 2 caught I'll worm them and Frontline them and get ahold of you if no one else wants them

Buy the way they won't be a year old until May.

I've got an early bird chick! Looks like a dark cornish. My first hatch of the season isn't due to pip until tomorrow. Conner, or terrier, heard the little peeper and let me know I needed to adjust the temperature down a degree. I've got bee class in the morning, so I'll be anxious to get back to see if the rest are on schedule.

Thanks Guy, I think I may have seen that one, I like old movies and Ma and Pa Kettle are classics, I was hoping to be able to download it there are a lot on the site I use and more and more are becoming broken links, I guess it's copyright issues, I'll have to look elsewhere maybe, If you like old westerns I can PM you the URL most of the links are still good there, Movies like Young Guns, Maverick, and Silverado are some of my favorites although they really aren't that old LOL I don't watch TV at all but do watch a lot of movies that I download and then delete after I watch them some I've seen a dozen times at least and never get old like John Wayne movies that I saw at the drive-in when I was a pup and supposed to keep my head down and be asleep while my folks watched the grown-up films at the double feature I remember my Mom telling how I was smuggled into Elvis Presely's,Girls, Girls, Girls, when I was a toddler my Mon went to see Elvis and my Dad went to see the Girls, Girls, Girls LOL

Edited to say that in no way had any effect on how I turned out!!!

I have not had chickens or hatched eggs in 10+ years...

I am a 35 years young woman, single for now which I just thoroughly enjoy my freedom, and live in the Purcell Oklahoma area.

Any questions feel free to ask :)

Hi Samantha! Glad to have you on the Okie thread. I live between HWY 9 and HWY 39 off of 180th. So I am not that far from Purcell either. There are a number of us who live not that far.
There is an auction in Blanchard tomorrow @ 5:00 and there will be a number of BYCers there.
So tell us about your chickens.

Shot me the URL, I love old movies, westerns are my favorite. I always like Roy Rogers over John Wayne. Like em both though. Was only one movie the 2 played in together. Which was a shame, they were both great in their own ways. I have tons of the old black and white John Wayne (when he was skinny and rode the white horse) Tex Ritter (yes the singer, but way better actor) Roy, Lash, and the list goes on. Never was a huge Gene Autry fan though, dont know why.

wait till March? what is wrong MJ, you wil be so far behind you will not ever catch up... I am already picking through young birds.. now I just need someone to come get the extras I dont want.. It's tough to make progress when you stop hatching or limit what you do hatch so just fire teh bator up, and get em going..

I'm small-time. I only actually have 47 birds right now and 6 of those "are" DH's. If you ask me in September there will be about double that but I want to maintain about 45 adults. I don't want to expand because of time and other hobbys. I am tempted sometimes to get other breeds,( like Modern Games -so opposite of Cochins!) but I think being able to go over to Jack's and play with Marans, Americaunas and Turkeys keeps me from "needing" a Large Foul flock of my own.

Took 5 1/2 doz eggs to our daughter tonight..should last her about two weeks. Resisting the temptation to hatch any more till I see what comes out of Carl's hatcher tomorrow.

(Of course still have the 14 Cochin eggs from Iowa going in the incubator).

Checked in on the henhouse tonight to see if everyone was inside and okay with all the changes.
The broodies finally settled down in their hanging cages.
Lucie and her babies were settled two feet from heat lamp nestled in some clean hay.
Quiver looks less stressed. Terra was snuggled next to Mae, one of the Delawares.
Fred and Ginger are on the roost, purrchirping.
MJ's roo is on the roost between the two CWs under a 60 watt bulb lamp. He cocked one eye at meas if to tell me to go away.
All is right with the world.

He doesn't know he isn't a LF bird!

I hope that works for you MJ. It has the opposite effect on me. Come spring and fall I have to stay away from the feed stores, or at least their chick area. Too much temptation for someone with zero self control when it comes to chicks, but I've seen you hold birds at the auctions, get your fix and be OK, so that might be just the thing for you.
