***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Morning all!

Yes, the day is looking like it is going to be a lovely day. Just the rest of today and tomorrow then it is the weekend. I am kinda of living for weekends right now. Sad I know...

So what is on everyone planning book today?

I'm home sick today. My stomach is NOT happy!

I am enjoying catching up on the post though, funny stuff - bugs and chickens and folks that ae not saints. I am an "angel" but I know the secrets of alot of friends.

Rebecca, Your Calico is sitting on 4 eggs, 3 of her own and 1 from the Mottled Blue that I slipped in there. All the talk of broodies must have spread to my coop

I have to work today until 5 (work 4 10 hour days). Dh meanwhile is at home working on what friends are now calling the "Chicken Condos". At least until the rain moves in. Then we plan on going to Maud tonight for the auction if we find it will be worthwhile. I don't hear many talking about it so wonder if it is worth our trip to attend.

I hope to get home in time to spend some chat time with my feather babies. I just love going out to the coops and feeding and watering, and gathering eggs. We only have 4 laying right now but that is enough for me.

I understand living for the weekend, that is where I am right now. Friday- Sunday is my only real time with my kids, hubby and the birds. Not to mention getting anything done around the house.

Can you spread the "broody bug" to my coops? I have maran eggs that are killing me not to have hatching. But we don't have an incubator (not sure we would know how to use it if we did, lol) and I really think we will have better luck with a broody hen.

I have inc. room and plenty of it. I will set them for $10 a dozen, I get a very good hatch rate. So long as you provide fertile eggs they will hatch fine. Call if interested we are just west of shawnee, Carl 405-878-6381

Cathie,
the Maud auction can be a good one, prices vary widely based on who is there and teh quality of the animals as well. There have been some very nice birds through there on a regular basis in the past.
the Junk sale is also worth making as you never know what they will have.
Junk starts at 5, Goats and sheep after junk and Poultry is last be ready for a late evening as it often runs till 11-12. better deals as it gets later and others have spent thier money.

I am so unmotivated today it isn't even funny, and I have company coming tomorrow. I have been out searching for a trace of my roo (Henry) that went missing yesterday, but found two eggs under a cedar tree, and my other hen crowing (crazy chickens). The rain and currently gray skies are not helping my disposition or motivation. I feel like I let Henry down by not keeping him safe! I never expected to become attached to my chickens, I know they are there for a purpose not like pets. Ugh. where to start?!?!?!?... Hope everyone has a good Thursday!

Oh no! I hope you find Henry!

It is amazing how quickly those silly little fuzzy butts get in our hearts. Our chickens were only for eggs. But I had to put 2 out of their misery after the dog attack and I cried for hours.

You are a good chicken mamma simply because you care.

I hope you enjoy the rain. Lord knows we need it!!
