***OKIES in the BYC III ***

NaNa thats what I was wondering!lol He must have a big greenhouse!Lucky guy! Iam really at a loss as what to expect from the weather the rest of the winter. Its awful how much stuff is sprouting and budding here. It really could be setting for for a natural disaster this spring. I guess stuff would eventually come back out but it would sure be hard on the fruits and berries, etc.

Congrats Little Sooner! Your getting good at this show stuff!

Speaking of shows a friend of mine is in Pa. at a national rabbit and cavy show. And she found me a mini satin buck that I am needing. Its an ermin colored, pedigreed jr. buck and was only $25! The only other buck I was able locate was in Alabama and I had to go after it and pay$40! This new guy came from Canada! The lady also got some high bred serama eggs to hatch and is splitting the hatch with me!

NaNa hope you can get some rest tonight and knock that bug in the head before it takes good hold!

Thanks Wayne..I don't make a nice sick person at all....I get real grumpy.
We have trees budding out too. The cherry trees already have swollen buds. I lost two trees out of 4 and if these last two open up, they could die also.
Congrats on your new mini satin!

Back from auction. Didn't place a single bid -- but DD got the brooder thanks to Jarvis Michael & P&B. DD also got 2 pretty birds she really wanted. I am glad she enjoys birds & glad she has her own money she earns to buy stuff with. Let the new birds come inside to get a drink & a bite to eat. They are very friendly. Thinking the blue one might not be laying yet-- or just starting to lay. Guess we will find out in the next few days.

Had 2 copper marans hatch out while I was gone.

Nana I have a hoop house my seedlings are going in this yr. when I lived in town I used a small lean to style greenhouse-- but I outgrew that quickly. I actually seem to have outgrown the hoop house too. DH said today he didn't realize how small the hoop house was-- glad he understands next yr I will need a bigger one! I didnt even have to ask. Think the hoop house is 10x18 Here is a pic the DH text me a few wks ago-- the barrels are full of water so that heat up during the day & supply some heat @ night. If it drops below freezing I have row cover over the plants plus run a heater. I have only had to use a heater 2 nights so far. The hoop house was all recycled materials except the plastic, screws & hardware. The hardest part was finding a day when the wind wasn't blowing to put the plastic on. There are doors on both ends & sides roll up for days when it is above 65-70 outside since it will reach 90-100+ quickly & cook the plants.

How heavy is the plastic you use on this hoop house?

Well we are home from the auction and got everyone settled in their new coops/brooders. Got a set of 4 Cuckoo Marans and 47 black australorp chicks. The little boys thought they were so cute when we got them home. They know they can't touch them for at least two weeks but they love hearing them (bet that gets old, lol). We had one DOA when we got home poor thing I cried when we burried it, poor little thing. Not sure I will keep all the remaining 46 babies or not. We have a friend that has chickens and she wants some but her hubby is out of work right now (just retired from the military) so I will keep a few for her once they are bigger and gift those to her.

Got all the new adult birds in the quarentine coops. DH went and picked up a few roosters for me in Tulsa today and they have worms so gotta get them wormed before they come out of quarentine. But I guess that is to be expected. I think we are done buying birds for a while unless I get my guineas or my barred rock hens I want. Other than that I HAVE to stop, lol. Plus hubby is at a stand still on adding to the "Chicken Condos" until we come across more free wooden fence panels. We are trying to go free on our wood materials and only buy screws and wire. Plus the poor guy has worked non-stop on it in his free time for over 3 weeks now.
