***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Through the years I have had some NNs with black skin on their neck and heads but it stopped just at the base of the neck. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Mad. Games of years gone by might have had black skin. Through the years and with intervention of man this was probably corrected because they looked better on the table to the Europeans.

Bet they'd sure go well with the new blue potatoes.........

A mountain Lion...
We have them here in central Oklahoma. Our neighbors had one killed on their property... 9 feet head to tip of tail.
Calves, kids (goats), and a colt have "disappeared". A calve was found in a tree.

Carry a big gun.

My dad's next door neighbor down the hill had one of his calfs up in a tree too. You can complain to the wildlife dept. to remove them in areas where they are too close to people and I believe you can kill them if they kill your livestock?

You passed right by our house then. The Meeker Sale barn (now called Desert Plains) is located on 5 acres our of our section. We have the rock gardens out front and all the blue and purple larkspur blooming.

I saw the beautiful flowers and wondered if that was your house, based upon your description of the location. You have a beautiful yard!

As to candling brown eggs, I actually have more problem with some of my green eggs than I do with brown eggs. I too, would be interested in any tips. I have a simple, cool light, electric candler and suspect there are brighter (and more expensive) versions available.

I wait about 7 days then I use a small cardboard box with a hole cut in one end (about 50 cent sz. hole) and I put a super bright flashlight in the box and put the egg into the hole on the outside so that the flashlight is right up under the egg and usually by 7 days you can see the blood veins in the darker eggs.

I've always loved working & have worked since I was 12. Too much depression after I couldn't work anymore and more depression after I gave up my rabbit & chicky girls, it got to the point where I felt it wasn't worth going another day so I got into therapy where she said it was vital to my health to get my chicky girls back. I feel life is worth living again but I have to have dad & neighbors do the lifting of feed bags into the house for me. On the bright side I don't have any more physical therapy for the next couple of weeks since my collar bone has to be put back in place before we can proceed. Have dr. appts. next wk and x-rays and have to get a chiropractor to get the bone back in place since the orthopedic doc only operates on bones, not puts them back in place. Gee. I don't take pain pills so will probably yell when they put it back in.
