***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I am looking for a Serama breeder here in Oklahoma.
I am actually wanting hatching eggs at the moment.
I may want to buy a pair or two in the near future.

Any breeder recommendations?

Check with Ok_Junebug. She shows Seramas and keeps her flock in Moore.

Maybe you can go to the Guy Rose auction outside of Perkins on Saturday morning. They have an interesting mixture of poultry and junk.

We thought about that, but our 7 year old has a game at 2 in Shawnee. We will probably go to Mary's Saturday morning. We want to try Perkins but have to wait till next Saturday to go up there. We have heard lots of good things about it. I don't "need" anymore birds but you just never know what you will find, lol.

Kurt finally decided on a few different cochin bantams he is interested in seeing in person. We got one at an auction a while back but not sure what he is. I can't figure out how to post a picture on here from my phone. But the ones he has narrowed it down to is Silver Penciled, Silver Laced, Columbian, and Frizzle Bantam. Then he wants to see what a black silkie looks like in person. He isn't ready for any birds yet, he has been sketching coop ideas for the last week. That has to come first then he can get serious about getting a bird or two (well with chicken math the way it is, that means like 4-5 lol)

black silkies are very attractive and very soft to pet. Silkies are also more intelligent than guineas or turkeys. Unlike the guineas, our silkies seem to be able to find the place in the fence where they went out, when they want to get back inside the fence.

Anyone in Oklahoma City working to legalize chickens in the city.

There have been some city council meetings on the topic, but to the best of my knowledge there has not been any change to the ordinance that requires you to have at least one acre prior to having poultry and/or other "farm animals" within city limits.

Buster I am glad you are going ahead with the meat birds! Sounds like there won't be a problem selling the birds. I saw your wife walk into the meeting, but somehow didn't see when you came in. You need to look into the farm diversification grant through dept of ag -- the grant can be used to set up on farm processing. Think the Lawton Farmers Market has huge potential compared to the markets close to my place.

Got a new windshield in the van this afternoon. Somehow DH was changing the wiper blades-- blade smacked down & cracked my windshield. So glad it was him & not me. He never would have believed that it cracked from changing the wiper blade.

Love seeing the chicks -- we have eggs going on lock down tomorrow. Still no guinea eggs today, but they did make a nest inside their coop, so they are thinking it over. My peahen hasn't laid an egg in 2 weeks either. Going to have a serious talk with those birds tomorrow!

So I am just wondering-- if I am using taptotalk with the signature turned on- does my name show up 2 times at the end of each post?
Once from taptotalk & once from BYC?
The forum works much better for me using this app, just trying to figure out the quirks.

Lots of cute baby chicks tonight! Thanks for the heads up on the chicks at Atwoods. I'll be sure to pass by the baby chick section now. They're just too hard to resist.

Here is a pic of all the Seramas that have hatched lately, including one that hatched today. It's the dark one in front. The bigger ones are 7 weeks old while the the youngest range in age from one week to less than 24 hrs. They grow so fast!
