***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Yea, I love my Turks. I got them the day after they hatched and lucked out with 2 girls and 1 boy.
I still can't get Dark Brahmas out of my head since last summer. I keep thinking if I put it off I'll quit wanting them but it isn't happening. What color Brahma are you looking for?

I have a soft spot for light brahmas. I picked out three of them at Atwoods, their markings made them easy to spot, that last year I got chicks, one got eaten by dog, one died mysteriously, and she was the last I gave up when we decided to stop having chickens.

Well the Lawton Atwoods does. Where did you call?

I called norman and kingfisher last week. I just called kingfisher and they have some too! I'm definitely going to go look for brahmas next week :) In the meantime I've got to figure out where I'm putting the orps and ducks I've already ordered HAHAHA

OKracefan, since I have the real dark blue Cochin boy in with 3 Blue Cochins girls & a light Spash girl I should start getting fertile eggs now, I always said I wouldn't put a rooster in with my girls but then I saw how sweet these boys are with girls. I think Carl said it takes......2 days? To start getting fertile eggs. So if you want LF Cochin eggs that'll be blue, black or splash I'll start saving some for you. MJ is going to take the Splash boy in the picture and breed him to her Buff girl to make some Lemon Blues. And we know you like that color

I'VE GOT A CHICK!!!!!
Little Rebecca, the Calico Cochin I got from Muesky, hatched a chick today and another one has pipped. There a 6 total under her; 3 of her own and 3 from my Blue Mottled. This one is definately Mille Fleur colored. I wasn't sure any would hatch, Rebecca is so small and these are almost her first eggs. She sure has been sticking to the nest.
I had to run over to Jack's and say "Ha, I've got chicks before you do!" His first are due out of the incubator just before the next Newcastle auction.
lol! It's baby season! Congrats! I can't wait for my Bantam Favs to hatch at Carls.

My Bantam Cochin boys want you to know they are gentlemen. They call the girls to the scratch and let them eat first. My beautiful SQ Black Rooster from Grace is the most chivalrous of all.
A couple of the youngsters may lack some grace but learn it pretty quickly.

The Splash boy is wonderful. Peaches and I are so excited!

Maybe it's just my Silkie boys who are selfish little things then. They didn't have a dignified bone in their body when I tried a couple of them in with the Silkie girls. Sheesh, you'd of thought they'd invented breeding. The girls were NOT impressed

all of them ive had over the years have been great, no nasties at all. now geese, thats a differant story! i used to carry a chinese gander around by the head, only way i could keep from getting bit!

Good, that makes me feel a LOT better.

They're beautiful chickens. They're temperament is supposed to be real similar to Cochins. I've got a few Faverolles and my Cochins so I think the personality is what I want.

Evening,

I'm enjoying all the new baby pictures. Keep them coming. I received my order from Ideal today. I've been calling the post office in Tulsa every day for a week, reminding them to call me as soon as the chicks arrive. I must have come off as being a high-maintenance chicken momma. I couldn't help it. I've heard too many horrible stories about boxes of chicks sitting, unattended on post office shelves, for days before they are delivered. I got a text at 6:00 a.m. saying my chicks would be ready for pickup as soon as the lobby doors open. I have ten buff Catalana, ten cream Brabanters, and five dark male chicks (packing peanuts). I'll take pictures tomorrow after they have had a chance to rest. I'd be completely worn out if I'd been made to travel from Texas to Oklahoma in a tiny box filled with screaming siblings.

Oh man! I'm going to have to get on the sign up list for eggs! You guys just happen to have some of my most favorite colors!! Mille fluer lemon blue and who can pass up the blue/black/splash groups!! Is anyone else doing the Easter hatch? I don't get to post as much as I'd like but I figure I can still play along :)

Poco I am SO JEALOUS of your brabanters...they are my current wishlist chicken....well those and the cream legbar$!

I will be haunting this thread to see your photos...
