***OKIES in the BYC III ***

thats a beautiful Turkey!

bwahaha yes, my duck math is better than my chicken math apparently

Atwoods has chicks?? Those jerks lied to me! They said they wouldn't have any till March. I'm going to have to go hunt for some more brahmas :)

Yea, I love my Turks. I got them the day after they hatched and lucked out with 2 girls and 1 boy.
I still can't get Dark Brahmas out of my head since last summer. I keep thinking if I put it off I'll quit wanting them but it isn't happening. What color Brahma are you looking for?

Retired Army Wife- I tried to get away with not getting any banties out of that bin, but I did not make it. I bought 4! Photos of your new babies? Please?

I suspect that I must never ever go to an auction where there are baby chicks and/or start hatching eggs.

I posted in the what breed or gender is this https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/631943/did-not-resist-banty-bin-what-did-i-get

any Okies want to guess what I got?

edited to add: Norman Atwoods has red sexlink pullets, SLW pullets, ducks, bunnies, geese, and a big ol bin of straight run banties....

Don't they have the greatest personalities?! I'm always so amazed at what sweethearts they are. My boy has always been sweet but he's just 8 months old. I'm hoping he stays nice. I keep hearing horror stories about "turkeys gone bad".

all of them ive had over the years have been great, no nasties at all. now geese, thats a differant story! i used to carry a chinese gander around by the head, only way i could keep from getting bit!

My LF Cochin boys are so sweet to their girls! They never had girls before. My dark gray/black boy was so nice that I went ahead and put him in with my sacred Cochin girls. I had tried a couple of my Silkie boys with the Silkie girls awhile back and they acted like little jerks going after the girls. I just figured my teen-aged Cochin boys would be the same way but they weren't, I was so happy to see that. Is that because the Silkies are bantams? Maybe LF birds are gentler and more laid back like big breed dogs. All 3 of my Cochins boys are perfect gentlemen, all they want to do is feed the girls. I haven't even seen them breed them, they must be polite enough to wait until I leave.
Rebecca, those 2 EE's that had been in with the dark Cochin boy? Since I put him in with my Cochin girls I put them in with his brother the Splash. You can still have all the eggs you want.
MJ, here's a closer picture of Peaches' new boyfriend. All their combs used to be just perfect and now the 2 Splash's combs & waddles look terrible since they got into that fight. I guess they just all of a sudden one day decided 3 was a crowd. I took one out and then they decided 2 was a crowd also :-/

Gotta get some of these offsprings some how? Nice!!!!!!

I'VE GOT A CHICK!!!!!
Little Rebecca, the Calico Cochin I got from Muesky, hatched a chick today and another one has pipped. There a 6 total under her; 3 of her own and 3 from my Blue Mottled. This one is definately Mille Fleur colored. I wasn't sure any would hatch, Rebecca is so small and these are almost her first eggs. She sure has been sticking to the nest.
I had to run over to Jack's and say "Ha, I've got chicks before you do!" His first are due out of the incubator just before the next Newcastle auction.

My Bantam Cochin boys want you to know they are gentlemen. They call the girls to the scratch and let them eat first. My beautiful SQ Black Rooster from Grace is the most chivalrous of all.
A couple of the youngsters may lack some grace but learn it pretty quickly.

The Splash boy is wonderful. Peaches and I are so excited!
