OKracefan, since I have the real dark blue Cochin boy in with 3 Blue Cochins girls & a light Spash girl I should start getting fertile eggs now, I always said I wouldn't put a rooster in with my girls but then I saw how
sweet these boys are with girls. I think Carl said it takes......2 days? To start getting fertile eggs. So if you want LF Cochin eggs that'll be blue, black or splash I'll start saving some for you. MJ is going to take the Splash boy in the picture and breed him to her Buff girl to make some Lemon Blues. And we know you like that color
I'VE GOT A CHICK!!!!!
Little Rebecca, the Calico Cochin I got from Muesky, hatched a chick today and another one has pipped. There a 6 total under her; 3 of her own and 3 from my Blue Mottled. This one is definately Mille Fleur colored. I wasn't sure any would hatch, Rebecca is so small and these are almost her first eggs. She sure has been sticking to the nest.
I had to run over to Jack's and say "Ha, I've got chicks before you do!" His first are due out of the incubator just before the next Newcastle auction.
lol! It's baby season! Congrats! I can't wait for my Bantam Favs to hatch at Carls.
My Bantam Cochin boys want you to know they are gentlemen. They call the girls to the scratch and let them eat first. My beautiful SQ Black Rooster from Grace is the most chivalrous of all.
A couple of the youngsters may lack some grace but learn it pretty quickly.
The Splash boy is wonderful. Peaches and I are so excited!
Maybe it's just my Silkie boys who are selfish little things then. They didn't have a dignified bone in their body when I tried a couple of them in with the Silkie girls. Sheesh, you'd of thought they'd invented breeding. The girls were NOT impressed
