Quote: Used to be a Co-Worker there LOL sure am glad I don't do that anymore, I was in there this evening would have spoke but you were pretty busy..
I knew the black ones were sex links I was thinking the other two were something else though, I think I may look into them or the Americauna to put in with Red still a ways off from having to decide stillBill - those hens you got from me were Red Stars. They came from Atwoods. You might be able to get some more like them now that they're selling chicks again.
I see broody as the hen's version of PMS and considering it is or soon will be spring.... its logical that they are "in the mood" at this time of year.
Are there supplements or light therapy or some other technique You use to get them off of broody? I would think that just like the light plays a role in our cabin fever / seasonal depression... it must play a role in triggering broodiness in hens.
Any insight from other BYC hobbyists?I put red chili pepper in the feeder with their layer pellets.
Nana beat me to that one I hear a lot of people say that they worm with crushed red pepper I have always heard that the pepper in their feed will stop them from going broody, I had almost a hundred laying hens of different types some years ago and when I ran out of cages to put broody hens in to break them up I was telling a fellow about it he said to sprinkle some crushed red pepper in the feed and they won't go broody I had forgot about that it was something my Grandmother had said also so I did, that was the first year that we had the hens and sold them all after the second season but never had another one go broody so I'm thinking it really does work or so it did for me, I won't worm with it cause I don't mind a few broody's once in a while LOL
Okie ridge I had a root canal 10+ yrs ago never had a problem. DH has had tons of dental issues. Lots of re-dos & repeats, he would vote to get a 2nd opinion. But only because he has had some bad experiences with dental stuff. I love my kids dentist & trust what he advises me. Are you seeing a children's dentist or family dentist? My girls still go to the children's dentist, they are comfortable there, not sure when they will go to a family dentist.
pull it, he will never miss it! and it wont give him trouble later! ive only dental issues 10 times in my life, first 2 required fillings, next 2 required pulling. 25 yeaqrs later had another pull going, 28 at 1 time! they do give you good drugs for that 1.
my daughter has had strep 3-5 times a year since she was 2, pulled her tonsils and ended that problem last year. grandson started haveing strep at 2 so we took his tonsils at 4, he is 7 and hasnt had strep since!
if you think the kids have it bad, wait till your 50 and see what happens to you!
new pains every day, cant remember anything, cant hear, cant see, cant remember anything.![]()
