***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Home from the porter hill auction. It was packed. Most people came to see what it would be like. It lasted about an hour. Had a bumpy start, I think next time will be better. DD chicks brought $2 each & I was able to get 4dz cuckoo maran eggs for cheaper than eating eggs. Goose eggs went for 50c each -- DD wanted them, but I objected. The maran eggs are set in the incubator & the chicks will be coming to the sale in 3wks.
I am sure we will go back next month & take more chicks.

whoooooo meeeeee? why would you say that???????

glad i make you laugh, thats my job!

and i do have my moments, i cant take stupid people.

i have been known to voice my opinion occaisionaly, and sometimes not too quietly.

and i will NOT tolerate dishonestity at all. doesnt matter how right they think they are. lieing is lieing.

Define "stupid". Who is to say? True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing. Socrates
I agree about liars, though. But what do I know? LOL

How was Newcastle?

Managed to get stuff moved to the burn pile and most of the "yard" mowed. DH took his tractor out for its inaugural run and I push mowed the area below our small patch of trees. Didn't get to till the rest of the garden today, but worked till dark so it was worth missing the auction for feeling accomplished today. We also cut the lock on an old storm shelter we found and its set up as a root cellar! drying racks and lots of shelves, just needs to be cleaned out and the stairs fixed.

New to the site - new to the forums... reading and lot learning a lot - looking and loving it! I have a lot of great little chicks and they are all growing like crazy - here to learn all I can!

Welcome! How is it no one has mentioned POOPS to you yet? You should come!

Went to the Newcastle auction. But I was lost and felt out of place so we left pretty quick. They had a gorgeous pair of Buff Op's I wanted and the Silkies. Oh my gosh!! But I didn't have a clue what to even do. lol But if anyone noticed, I was the one with the bright orange red hair. I know I stuck out like a sore thumb lol
I wasn't there tonight, sorry you didn't bump into any of the bycers. They would have steered you in the right direction & even pulled up a chair for you! Seriously if DD sees something she likes that I am not familiar with I always will ask someone how much should I expect to pay & they usually will even look over the birds with me to make sure they are good. 90% of the folks @ the auctions are pretty nice & will strike up a conversation with you about almost anything. Just look for the loudest chatty bunch next time. That would be the BYC table. Half the time we don't even know what is on the auction table since we are chatting so much!

Will check that on the barrel- nekosha- FIL says you can have the freezers and fridge, they have their doors still- will get more pics tomorow, he did mention you could take what you want- i'll try to make sure what area of his junk heap he is talking about... i have tried to get the small stuff out of there, but some of it has tree's growing through them... when my fil first moved out here he used that area as a dumping ground for all sorts of stuff- the more i try to clean it out the worse it seems to get... but if i could get this stuff moved to another area, then i can clean it out, i spent the morning trying to clear that stagnant pond- it is water seeping through the rocks and lots of decaying leaves... trouble for sure

Thank you! That is what sooner was talking about happening in May! I just nodded and smiled. I had a *stupid* moment. You may see me there with Sparks!

POOPS is a great get together. It will be May 5 in Choctaw. There have been several over the past years. We have food, fun, fellowship with fantastic family-like friends as well as lots of feathered fowl.

I have no doubt you saw one. I believe the wildlife depts stand is that they aren't living and breeding in OK. The ones that they've been able to document have all been young males and the one female didn't show signs of reproduction. Personally, I think if they're moving through OK, surely some of them liked it well enough to stay. :)
Amen...paw prints are huge! and the neighbors goats have been disappearing.....

Hi all! I have yet to post in the Okies in the BYC. I thought when I did I’ve have a clever story to open with or something of substance to share.
Well, that’s not the case LOL.

Let me know if you need an EE Rooster for non shake and bake purposes.
If I have placed this post in the wrong place, please don't rip me a new one

just let me know, and I will gladly edit it with some clever opener or something of substance!
