***OKIES in the BYC III ***

:lau
kass does all kinda weird stuff, buries tires, buries people, flies around on a broom, ya know, women stuff!!!:gig

I never bury people, ........................................... that's to much work!!!!!!! Why do you think I grow insects!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :gig

peat moss can be added to your veggie and flower gardens to help hold moisture in the soil....I mix peatmosss with the hay under the roost and it helps with amount of uric acid in the poops....I compost everything from the hen house along with the hay and manure form the cow lot.

okay. Thanks for the tips. I've never had much success gardening. We did have a small garden where we were before, the only thing I grew from seed that thrived was ocra.... not that ocra needs much help here! I'm excited with all the seeds I started taking off, can't wait to get them in the ground!! Any other tips you can give me are greatly appreciated! As soon as everything is in the ground my next order of business is a compost box. I tried having a pile at the last house and my dogs wouldn't leave it alone  definitely building a box this time.

A really quick compost bin is three pallets wired together with a fourth to close off the front.you can take it apart to turn the compost and set it back up. another is a circle of hog wire to keep the "stuff" in one place.

I spent a few hours in the carport potting up my fruit trees and peonies and hostas....whew. ran out of potting mix so will wait on the dahlias and cannas. The rain was coming down and I could see the terraces filling up. We have 2.75 inches in the guage and it is still raining......LOVE it!!!

Want to take pictures of the cochin cross and the Iowa cochins....will have to for a break in the rin so I can run out to the barn.
