***OKIES in the BYC III ***

As of today I have officially commited mass murder again this year. All my tomato and pepper seedlings are now dead. I have such a tiny space for starting them and don't seem to have the knack, but I keep trying. Most all other seeds I start I start in the garden itself which I do much better at. I am hoping I'll get better when I have a greenhouse (hopefully by next year)

LOL my 14 year old son is looking forward to seeing and having a chance to buy him some chickens. But he can't keep from smirking everytime I say something about "POOPS", lol. It is the age I know, but I just love this age, girls don't have cooties but yet he still won't talk to them unless it is about computers, haha.

and your point is?

i snicker everytime i say something about going to poop's, and GIRLS DO HAVE COOTIES!!!!!

Are they drying out or getting to hot? I have a friend that grows all her seedlings in a huge picture window but I always grow mine outside. Glad you are not giving up, you can always try to do some more in the fall. I have LOTS of extra tomatoes & peppers started, wish you were closer & I would share. Took on the battle of the aphids since yesterday & didn't find any new damage today. Hope I got them soon enough!

Don't think they are getting to hot, but some could have succumb to water issues, I tried to keep it warm enough to germinate the peppers and a sand/soil mixture for sprouting, I made a mistake and tried to sprout the tomatos and peppers in the same container, that I covered w/ plastic for moisture control, trouble was the tomatoes sprouted much faster then the peppers and I had to remove the plastic to soon for the peppers. Several just wilted and died, they almost looked like it started mid stalk w/ a bruise or something. I also think a rodent may have eaten some of them, he had been caught and fed to the chickens.

I was going to winter sow this year, but we didn't have a winter to sow in.

Deanne, those tiny tiny Serama babies are adorable!!! If they didn't have to be inside in the winter I'd be begging you for a couple of the little girls for Channing. But I've got 2 Doves and Channing inside in the winter as it is.
My Bantam Faverolles babies are 3 wks old today. Hopefully I'll get the Ameraucana and Dark Brahmas picked up from Carl soon. I don't even know how many hatched.
Here's one of the little girl Faverolles babies, they're at the scraggly stage and losing their baby fuzz.
