Hi Bill! I hope no one was injured when you unloaded your outfit after POOPS last Saturday!

So if you drop a truckload of scissors and there is no one around to hear it does someone still get cut to bits?

LOL I think so, I was sure hoping I didn't have an accident going or coming from POOPS, I'm pretty sure EMS wouldn't have been able to help me cause the whole area would have been declared unsafe to enter

No day-brightening until I've had more coffee. I have a bad habit of getting up early and doing chores before anything else, then coming in to make coffee so I can actually be around people!

I guess Gerald & I will be at Fletcher tonight with hatching eggs and turkey poults & anything else we can decide to grab beforehand. We had a population explosion of turkey poults (hatched last weekend) and have at least 50 we need to sell.

I'd better get outside now & work on a temporary bridge across our creek so that our goats can go back and forth again. Half are stranded across the creek since their little bridge washed out from all the rain we had. I think we had over 6 inches of rain here. Oh, and we've run out of hay for them too

Anybody know of any goat hay around Tuttle area? They love the weedy hay and alfalfa hay the best.

I am trying to calibrate the Sportsman so that the back wafer acts as a high temperature fail safe, in case the front wafer doesn't work. I just put a digital probe inside the Sportsman, that has a high and low temperature read out, so I can clear it daily and see what is going on. To my surprise, it appears that the low temperature is about 95 degrees and the high temperature is about 102 degrees. I replaced both wafers this Spring, so really don't know if they are faulty or I am just inexperienced in setting the temperature. I know that Les/NN breeder gave us a tutorial last year, but I haven't figured out how to do a search and find it within the original Okie thread - short of looking at all of the posts made by Les.

Anyone know how to find a tutorial on setting both wafers to control the temp in a Sportsman?

Also, I am using digital thermometers/hydrometers made by "Taylor" that I got off Amazon for about $10.50 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001F0RBI8 for the Hovabators and as long as I get the probe close to egg level, I think they are fairly accurate (when I was adding some eggs last night, one started reading 126 degrees

and I almost panicked, until I realized the probe was touching the heating element in the Hovabator. Does anyone have a favorite thermometer/hydrometer that they recommend - but won't cost more than the incubator?
