***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I had a cool thing happen today. My son graduated yesterday. Valedictorian. Anyway mom dont drive so went down and got her yesterday, brought her up so she could see Ethan grad. then took her home this afternoon. Dad is in nursing home in Clinton so went by and saw him also. Stopped at local quick shop to get something to drink. Had my rooster cap on. A man checking out turned to me and said, I like your hat. I noticed he had a gold chain around his neck with a gold rooster on it also. We talked for a few then he invited me out to look over roos at his place. Long story short he was very nice man and very smart about chickens and I had a blast. He gave me free some rooster huts and probable would have sent home a roo or two if I would have taken them. It just goes to show that the people in this sport, no mater what race, age, or background all share one thing. A real love for the chicken. I now have a new friend in this hobby and it all started over a rooster hat.

One reason I wear a POOPS shirt to many of the auctions is the opportunity to start a conversation about BYC.

That is VERY interesting! Wow, no wonder I haven't had a NN frizzle die yet. Well, a couple of frizzle NN hens had their feet frozen during the February blizzard, but they're still alive, still get around although with a little more difficulty, and still laying eggs.

I must admit though, the naked neck chicken was not one of my favorite breeds until you, Mr. nnbreeder, began telling all their great attributesl. Plus, our local feed store was shipped some chicks that they didn't order, so they got them for free ... NN pullet chicks ... so we bought them for 25 cents each ... I guess it's been 3 years now and they still lay very well and we are hooked

If we were to downsize to one breed ... well .... I need to work on their egg color. I want to get those project frizzle NNs laying olive eggs, and might as well get some NNs laying dark brown egg as well
