***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Well for the luv a' God. Evidently some foolish mama cat had 3 kittens under the chicken coop, they're screaming their heads off and dehydrated so she hasn't been there to take care of them. Their eyes are just now opening so they're about 2 wks old. They're fat for baby kitties. My 4 cats are spayed & neutered and have never been outside a day in their life so I have no idea where they came from. 2 Tortoiseshells (girls) and a male black one with white markings on his face. I do NOT want them, Laura? Want kittens? Anyone have a mama cat who's nursing who'd be willing to take them? I'll drive them.

Oh Mitzi that is horrible, glad you found them! I don't have a momma cat we got all ours fixed. I will keep an ear open for someone that has one. At 2 weeks they might be able to eat some wet catfood and you can get milk replacer at some walmarts and most vets. Didn't someone just have 2 momma cats sharing a litter?

I'm sure the mama cat would've come back if she could've. I wanted to leave them under there longer hoping she'd come back but my daughter thought that was mean. They're pretty dehydrated though, didn't know that until she dug them out.

Oak is right there was someone posting about kittens just a week or so ago. If you can't find anyone that can take care of them, I will. I'm a sucker for cats

I've never had an outdoor cat (that was mine) but I can keep one as an outdoor cat here. Do you suppose I could teach it to sleep in the building where the chickens are? I cleaned out that building a week ago and when I moved the shavings TONS of baby mice went flying. Suckers were too fast for me to catch but I tried. My chickens would've loved mouseloaf.
If you could take the other 2, Laura, I'll split the cost of spaying & neutering with you in a couple months. Dr Scwandt in Guthrie does it for like $40 a spay and even less for a neuter.

Modernman: I am praying for you and your family.

Ksane: I hope you can find help for the kittens. I have had mama cats in the past take in abandoned kittens. Unfortunately none of the my cats are mamas.

I hope everyone can enjoy this weather today. I have been out working on more chicken coops and runs. I also got a bunch of work done in the garden and harvested my first radishes!! I mean my first ever not just this year. LOL

I am so happy with them. The kids started munching immediately so I don't know how many I will have left soon. Even the kid who doesn't not like veggies is liking the radishes! Shhhhh no one tell him it's a vegetable.

All the babies are doing great and the chick that kept falling over and getting stuck on its back seems to have stopped and is fine now. I have no idea what it was but the vitamins must have helped or it out grew it.

I have a another question for the maran people.... Just how feathered do marans get on the legs? I bought some blue and splash marans (I thought) at Blanchard and these birds are getting BIG and a lot of feathers on the legs and feet. Beautiful birds but still they almost have pants on!

Do you think they could be something else? "hubby reading over my shoulder assures me they are chickens not 'something else' " MEN!

Shellie, here's the only 2 pictures I could find of the leg feathers of mine. My 2 boys are definitely big, that's for sure.
