***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Chickie number three has a straight comb and blue barring. The feathers on the back of this chick are super slow to come in. The wings are about 3/4 feathered.

Thanks for your patience, everyone. Kass, this is the last of the photos. Potential pullet number five has a flat, nearly invisible comb and all black feathers, with the exception of a tiny puff of white on her chin.

Wayne I will bring some to NEOCS for you, If Tony O's suggestion works I will have some pots of starts there also, That will indeed be cool and provide a ton of cuttings, I'f you think about it I'd like to talk you out of a few of the snake gourd seed when you come this way.

Thanks Tony I'll be trying this, Would you leave the bamboo section with the node in the middle long or shorten it closer to the node? Since some nodes have starts coming out on 2 or more places around the node can you split the bamboo lengthwise to separate the different shoots? I could get lucky and have some started by POOPS this way but most likely since that's just around the corner root sections will be best

I think so too, I have some containers that should work for rooting them in soil it would make the ones I bring to NEOCS have a better chance to survive transplanting,
Did you get the gourd seed I sent to you? I had forgot to ask LOL should have arrived with the bulletin board.

If you need them, I have a lot of snake gourd seeds from last year's crop and will be glad to bring some to POOPS. If anyone is looking for any other certain type of plant or seed, let me know and maybe I can help. I have quite a few perennials I started from cuttings last year; abelia, wiegela, Confederate Rose hibiscus, etc. Also have Texas Star hibiscus that are second year plants from seeds I started last year. Those like damp growing conditions, so if anyone has a pond or bog where they need some color...... Working on corkscrew and weeping willows. I have a few corkscrews going well, but am still building inventory on on the weeping. I have a lot of other stuff, too, but won't try to list it all here. Lots and lots of heirloom tomato plants if anyone still needs any.

Yes, just barely cover them. A sweet potatoe has eyes just like other potatoes and will make sprouts at each. Let the sprouts reach 4 - 5 inches and gently pull them from the potatoe. you can put them in a small jar of water in a sunny window to generate roots, or you can put each in a pot of potting soil to start the roots. Either way, the sprout must be kept moist to get roots.
If a sprout gets away from you and reaches more than 12 inches, you can cut it into several pieces and put in water...just make sure the leaves are growing up.

I've seen them sprout by just putting the potato in water.
