Robin--sending thoughts and prayers for your fil. Should do well. My father delayed having a colonoscopy for YEARS because he was afraid he had cancer. Of course by the time he did have it checked, he'd had cancer for some time. It did require drastic sugery, but they were able to get it all and he lived more than 10 years longer--he was in his 70s. Colon cancer is one of the easiest to deal with, so i'm sure he'll do well.

Darling girl and her piggy!

I just shuffled birds through brooders and cages and moved some outside... My god I have a lot of young birds.. time to start shipping SOME out. I do have some young Golden Birchen, and Blue Golden Birchen males if anyone is interested in them let me know Hint Hint Hint Jim or Micheal. I have pullets coming out everywhere I find it odd I have not a single older Black Rosecomb cockrell but 9 pullets that had to be moved outside, I do have 4 younger black cockrells with the pullets to match so I have 4 pairs there,

Madison gets a trio of Black, blue and some splash for the fall show season, as well as Some OE in Birchen, Silver Blue, Opal, Columbian, and Brown red.
Who else has kids that would like to show this year? I'm looking for volunteers.

thanks for sharing Betsy, normally I would be stressing big time, but for some reason (lots of prayers) i know it will be fine. Frank is 82, and in very good health, non smoker etc. And loves seeing my chickens wandering around, he looked out at the creek and saw a big turtle, goes down and its a guinea poking through the creek!LOL!

Well you know Nathanael never has enough, lol. That boy and his birds. But if you find someone that doesn't have any yet he isn't in "need" of any. Just that he takes after his momma and hasn't met a bird he doesn't like.

Kurt my wonderful 14 year old got an old cpu from his room and got me back online, lol. I love that kid! Now if I could get him to pick up after himself, well I can dream.

Well hatch is almost finished and we had 6 splash marans (5 hatched 1 still working), 5 black aust. (4 hatched 1 still working), 3 buff brahma banty cochins (2 hatched 1 pipped and still working), and 10 sexlinks (9 hatched 1 working but may have to cull 2 they seem to have some of their yolk hanging out we will see) and I have 11 golden salmon marans still working none pipped yet but finding they are usually a day behind the rest of the hatch. I am loving these hatch rates. It is amazing to see nature at work. I was shocked to come home from the auction last night to chicks in the hatcher.

I think Jack's little banty cochin is going broody. I am going to give her golf balls tomorrow and see how serious she is about it. Then if she sticks with it I will give her some eggs to sit and have her raise a little clutch of babies.

I also think we have a snake getting our guinea eggs. I have only collected 3 eggs since Thursday. We usually get 2-4 a day. We got 2 Thurs. 1 Friday and none today. I don't see any signs and you would think the guineas would kill a snake if it got into their pen but maybe not. I am going to have hubby see what he thinks we can do to try to keep snakes out of their pen.

Well off to watch babies hatch. Not sure I will ever get sick of watching them hatch.

I have plenty of Columbian Females to go with the pair he got at poops.. if he is interested.

I had not gotten my normal 5 eggs a day from the Blue Rosecombs for the past two days, when I was cleaning up and moving pens I learned why.. two nearly 6 ft rat snakes living under the runners to that pen.. they are no longer a problem.
