***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hello again, I have been here reading posts since I joined. . . . . .I just needed some time before I shared. Last week while proudly sharing my pictures and telling you all about my bestest girl-friend, my son an my god daughter were outside building a temp. run for the chicks. I had tended to all my birds, an let them out to run the yard, worked in the garden for awhile then came inside. Someone let out our two female pups, which constantly need supervision (only 11 weeks old). They got ahold of my girl. The kids did not notice, they were hammering posts in the ground. By the time they noticed the pups were out, she was already gone. My Helen never had a chance. . . . I have lost others, but this is so different. She was so sweet, she wanted to be with us! That is all she ever wanted, this is so hard. I feel like a boob. I am just glad I shared her with the group.
Aaaaw, I'm so sorry to hear about your Helen. I'm new here so I haven't heard about her. Sounds like she was really special. Hugs to you.

Hannah. So sorry you lost your special girl. I have been through it so I know it is heartbreaking. My dogs did it to my chickens too after spending two years with them. I learned a valuable lesson that day. Even neighbors or stray dogs can be a problem. Again, so sorry.

Someone also recently said on here that you can't be mad at the pups because they are doing what comes naturally to them. It was just a very unfortunate incident and I find this information is very true.

all those that belong to four chicks we need road games, and what kind of music do we all listen to? I like some thing up beat to get me going in the morning. @ gunmama you should so post a pic of those chick clips on here! ok better yet check these out all. They are clucking cute! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...822489011024.2104310.1504185750&type=1&ref=nf

Cute pic! I like any kind of music. I may not sound like your favorite recording artist, but I will sing it anyway.

Just caught up from the past few days. My Internet is not so friendly when it is raining! My tapatalk app still doesn't work with BYC but it works with other forums.... I just don't get it!

Mike-- tempted to stop by your ace and see how many birds you have left. Imagine after selling most of them you still have more birds than the manority of us!

Mitzi with my Eco we put a wet sponge in the bottom when we are hatching in it. Without the sponge I can't get the humidity high enough. Bird walk farm has the humidity pump to go with hers, I may get the humidity pump when we try to hatch out ducks.

Speaking of ducks my silver appleyards came today! Plus 2 bonus black runners. I will post pics of them latter tonight or tomorrow. Also took pics of the chicks from Bfrancis. They are so FAT. Now I remember how fat Louie got his name.

Tomorrow we are taking this wks keets to the anadarko swap. DD only hatched 3 dz this wk so hopefully she can sell them all quickly. It will be interesting to see how she haggles with people there.

Oh ordered egg cartons today. Egg cartons.com had some cheap plastic flats that hold 30 eggs. Think it was .17c a flat ordered some dz size too. We will love the clear cartons to see all our pretty colored eggs we collect!

Agreed, the pups got in trouble, but I do not blame them. I even think they might have only been playing rather ruff. . . . . they are young. I fault myself, I left her out alone. Recently the Roos had been running to her rescue - if one of the other girls tried to pick on her- I had become too comfortable thinking she was safe out on her own.

Changing the subject: Can anyone tell me if my turkey is male or female??? Hint to what I think it's name is Evan, but at times I say she needs to stop growing. . .Needing some clarity.

Nana our little farmett is in Adair county., between the community's of Chance and Chewy! On Chewy road. I doubt that will help you much because I don't think any of those names are on maps! Lol
Terrible morning here,a varmint or varmints got into my. Chickens last night, lost about fifteen to twenty half grown birds and one hen. Four were silkies including my one calico! The rest were my Icelandics only found five body's no obvious signs of trauma. The hen was still alive but had to be put down. Found one bird in the yard the rest were just gone! I figured it was a family of coons. The neighbor said they have sen a red fox lately. I was just sick when I found them this morning. Those Icelandics were mostly pulleys and I was so proud to have so many rare chicks raised up.only two of the young ices survived. I never had a loss from varmints till I lost our final dog recently so when I get back home from the trip I am getting another outside dog!
Well my truck and trailer are loaded up and I hope to leave out early in the morning. Not looking forward to the long trip. Been a few years since I have made that one by my self. See you all sat!
