***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hi all. I have been helping one of Jack's sisters (her name was Laura) since May 13 - first in the hospital and then with her at her home under hospice care. She died peacefully at home Tuesday night.

Jack and I are planning to swing through the N.E.O.C.S. Saturday, but we'll have to hurry back to help finalize funeral preparations. We're hoping get some cane from you, Elwood Lightfoot, if you have some. I look forward to being there and seeing some new and familiar friendly faces.
So sorry for the loss in your family.

I went back and looked at my amazon account and they have sent stuff via fedex, but they drop everything off at the post office and let them deliver it... strange.....

Well it was a girl the first two times I got stuff, then it was a guy every time after that. (haha I'm showing how much stuff I get online aren't I :p) That's not a bad idea. I may make a sign. Amazon said they would put a request for it to be taken to the door, but I bet they do the same thing again.

I wish they would just send everything USPS. It has got to be cheaper than the other two and it would be good business for the post office too!
When I order from Amazon, they have a selection of mailing options to choose from.

It's finished! It's all hardware cloth, no chicken wire. The floor is expanded metal. The hardware cloth is woven onto the cattle panels with wire through every single 1/2" hole. I am not sure a spider could get in this coop. You can see my repurposed items. I had an old, split hose that I cut to put over the seams where the hardware cloth attached to the cattle panels because I didn't want my tarp to rip. And the door is an old refrigerator shelf.

I put the older Dominique chicks, the single faverolles chick, and my bantams in the coop. Seems to be okay so far.

Now I have all the birds in the yard instead of in my sunroom! Well, till the broody hatches her clutch next week, and I pick up guinea keets from KSane and the chicks from Okieridge.

But that's it this year! No more hatching for me. I'm going to be done. :)

Your up to 3 bantams (2 blonde and 1 black) and then 3 doms and boy are those doms rolly pollys!!!! Fat little buggers and so sweet lol.
Whoa. The blonde ones are buff cochins. The black one is a silkie / cochin cross. If it's a girl she will be able to hatch chicks out of rocks. Ha! Those Doms are really energetic aren't they? Think they'll be done by tomorrow? I could pick 'em up in the evening if you're going to be home. I just don't want to wait too long and cause you extra work. I know you're trying to get out to seasonal work.

Kass, could you send me your custard recipe? I have looked but cannot find it on here. I thought you had posted before, if you did it is playing hide and seek!! The custard sounds great and I would love to try it.

Oh cool never hatched a silkie before, lol. They may be done by tomorrow. The other 3 Doms are all zipped just waiting on them to pop out on their own and the other two bantam eggs are pipped and chirping but not zipping yet. Just added water to the hatcher and will check them tomorrow morning. Who knows but I figure they should all be done by tomorrow evening maybe tomorrow morning. If they are done in the morning I can leave instructions with my 15 year old to get them ready for you when you get here. I will be at the fireworks stand all day until it is time to come home and get birds ready for auction tomorrow night.

This forum hates my iPad so this post might look messed up, I just want to make sure no one sends Guineas to me! The 3 that had showed up a few days ago have left for parts unknown, thank God. MacGuyver, your pen is way too cool! I love how secure chicken wire is but I hate how it tears my hands up. That must have taken forever to wire each square! Great job:)) I didnt mean we had to meet Saturday after NEOCS, I meant sometime next week.

Ha! My hands look like they encountered a shredder. What the hardware cloth didn't rip up, the guineas did!
