***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Here are a few pictures from here today. I got creative with the 2x4 wire we bought last week. I figure it is just sitting here until we get the big pens built so why not use it until then to let the birds out to free range a bit. So everyone got an hour or more of free ranging time. I let one coop out at a time so no fights broke out. They loved it so I will be adding this to my time of caring for them in the evenings. I used those plastic posts that have a spike on the end to hold the fence up and sat out there all afternoon watching them so no one got out and nothing got in. It did stress the poor free ranging guineas out a bit, darn gooney birds. They had a great time having access to fresh green grash and lots of bugs. These are the Silkies Kurt got at POOPS and the little splash banty cochin Jennifer got.

Oh Gunmama, that is SO my kind of luck. I've had those days more times than I can count.
Tracey, I think I'll go with something simpler for a name haha! You crack me up-your new Frizzle has her own web page?? Even my Serama is jealous now

Cathie, don't you just love relaxing with the birds?? I thought of you all the way down Rt 66 and back yesterday. There were several fireworks stands with RV's parked by them, were you the stand by Wellston? I want to make sure we buy fireworks from no one but you guys this year. We put up 300 ft of the 5' welded wire today. That picture of your fence brought back all the sore muscles from today! Kurt's Silkies are beautiful, he's got to be so proud of them. I love my Silkies.
Joe, I'm really impressed with those Light Brahma-wow. My 4 Dark Brahma girls are some of the nicest birds with the sweetest personalities.

What a wonderfully full day we have had!!!! Been at it since 7a.m. , Got up and made Bigg-un pecan waffles an bacon. Then headed out to clean the coops, changed out all feeders, rearranged smaller coops around the yard, lit the burn pile, worked the the garden, cleaned out from under the ac units,an scrubbed out all the coolers. I came in an washed up a bit an started on Bigg-un's "Father's Day" dinner. I started with some of my cucumbers from the garden. . . .I tried a new recipe, sweet n spicy cucumber salad (SO GOOD) then got the blackeyed peas on. Took the kids with me to the store to pick up a few missing items. . . . .took forever!!! Came home and fried cabbage, made the squash casserole (from my garden, I am really proud of that, this is my very first garden!!) fried some breakfast chops, an made some quick corn cakes. O MY GOODNESS, I know the dinner was for him, but I sure was happy when I finally got to sit down an eat!!!! Was about to make his nanna pudding, but we are so stuffed, it will have to wait till tomorrow. Took a walk around the yard, an I am gonna call it good for tha day.

DH Got a new phone today & I got his old one-- now my talpatalk app is working again!!! Been a few wks since it worked. So happy to have it back.
Sounds like most had a good time @ the swap. Also sounds like Newcastle sale was pretty good. Don't know if we will make Blanchard next wk. just depends on how many keets we have.
We have been working on ordering a modular home. It is exhausting & stressful! Trying to decide on all the finishes, appliances & agree on them.
Doodle-- I don't have a final figure yet but looks about $65 sq ft & we are getting all the bells & whistles. Without the upgrades we could be between $55-$60 sq ft. Stick build with the upgrades we were looking at least $100 sq ft.

I dont know the young man that helped us at first carring pens, he was good help and sixshooter stepped up and did great too. Was about 30 degrees warmer in the middle of that barn than in the back where my stalls were set up. I bet I sweet 10 pounds off. Fat folk dont do well in high heat and humidity.

No the big tent in Wellston is some friends of ours, but we are east of Chandler right on RT66 just east of the Walmart. It is a big yellow shipping container, lol. We are right next to a plant nursery. Hubby is out there Monday - Thursday with our 18 year old Matthew, Nathanael and Jenn. I will be out there this Friday-Sunday I hope during the day. We are just trying to figure out how to make it all work and keep the birds cared for. Only way we could do it was for me and a few of the kids stay home monday-thursday and then go out weekends after we care for birds here.

I can't wait to build our new pens. Hubby is going to build me a new 10x50 laying hen pen and 3 pens 18x 10 for my sexlink breeders. Then I hope for 2 maybe 3 more hoop houses and then we will add our "flight coops" which will be additions to the front of the row of pens so each pen can take turns during the day getting some time on the grass. Right now we are pulling all the weeds from the garden and putting them in the pens so they have fresh greens daily. Where did you find the 5' welded wire? We could only find 4' 2x4 wire so bought 200' of that. But we will need LOTS more, lol. Plus lots more sheet metal to go on the roofs of the coops we will be building for each pen.

Kurt loves those little silkies, one is starting to crow so we know we have at least one roo, lol. He has a lead on a neighbor that has another camper shell to get rid of so he will go talk with him this week about getting it. He is building one coop out of one now, just needs to find time to work on it so he can finish. But I don't see that happening until after the 4th right now. He isn't allowed to use power tools when we aren't here needless to say so that kind of puts a kink in building coops, lol.

Oh Nana, what is it with those CW's I have the one pullet that likes to sit in the water bowl! I am tempted to get them a kiddy pool but know it would get nasty to easily and then I would feel the need to be out there twice a day to empty it and refill with clean water. They will get one of the new pens we have planned for July. Right now they are i a 10x4 a frame coop that gets moved daily, they are the best lawn mowers ever, lol. But they are getting really big now. Wishing I had a few more now, lol.

Wayne I got home with your pet taxi. Thanks a million for the rollers. Didnt mean to get the box. I went over after auction to put them in one of mine and Molly said you were gone. I will catch you sometime. Thanks again and enjoyed what little visiting we got to do.

I dont know about old style, but you can get the 8oz jelly jars just about anywhere... Walmart, kmart, most grocery stores. Good luck on the fruit. I know we will be picking a pear tree at some point and there should be plenty to go round if you would like some.
