Egg production always slows in the heat, and summer then during molts as well, a person interested in egg production should really focus on the northern breeds that lay through the winter and shorter light hours.Anyone else's egg production drop like a rock??? I'm not begrudging the poor girls during this horrible heat I wouldn't want to lay an egg either.
I know some of my gardening friends on here have Mint of different kinds, I have a recipe to share where you can use some, and also another recipe, they are both great for this HOT weather, Lynn
Sekanjabin (Persian Mint Drink)
4 cups sugar
2 1/2 cups water
1 cup vinegar (Red Wine works best)
Lots of fresh mint or Lemon Balm (dried will do)(about a hand full of fresh)
Bring the water and sugar to a boil. Add the vinegar and reduce the heat to simmer for 20 minutes or so. Remove from heat and insert sprigs of mint into the pan.
To serve, cut with water to taste (a little grated cucumber can be added.)
This drink is very refreshing on a hot day, or can be taken Hot also, add 1 tsp (or to taste) to a glass of water. You can add Cinnamon (about 2 Tbl spoons) when you add the Mint also for an added flavor!!! This syrup can be made and kept in a sealed jar for several months with out refrigeration!!!
