***OKIES in the BYC III ***

WEll we finally got some much needed rain last night. And it was below the triple digits today! That was really welcome!
Graybear had three hatch so far, hoping for more tonight . Two are white and one is brown chipmunk. .One white one has feathers on its legs. Figure its an iceland for sure.

Ms. Betsy here is a pic for you. Took this out my dining room window this morning. the top pic is when they first stepped out of the woods. I was elated to see the other twin step out!
How exciting to see those beauties!

Greybear only three hatched. They were all out of the white eggs so must be Ices. None of the games hatched,They were clear when I busted them. Another good rain last night. Garden looks bettre all ready. And the blackberrys plumped out too! Had to take the chicks away from the broody that hatched so many. She wasn't covering them enough. Put them in a brooder and once they heated up the sure perked up!
Went to my cardiologist for yearly checkup today,he wqas almost gigglying he was so happy that he hadn't had to see me in a year! He was tickled that his stents were holding up so well. Got the okay for another year before I go back.

Last update poco gave me on our eggs she didn't mention how many voices she was hearing, so I'm taking that to mean too many to count!!!! lol lol

Hey Wayne excellent news on the Dr. visit, keep up the good work, I am glad atleast three Icelandics hatched, i think the Orientals may have been to young and it was too hot for good fertility!! Can't wait to see pics of the babies!!!! Lynn

That's my bet, too :-D

I know people here shake their heads at me (I can see you all do it lol!) because I bleach my feet and change shoes before entering the different chicken yards. But I can't bear to lose babies I've raised from tinies to one of the many random diseases that can affect them only because they don't have mature immune systems.

All of my pens are set up so that I don't often have to enter them to take care of the birds. There is one rule however that I will not break and that is to care for the incubators first, chicks second and adults last. When we were going places to NPIP test we carried a sprayer of bleach water with us for the muck boots and truck and on the way home the truck got a very good wash at the car wash no matter what the weather.

Good biosecurity is a good practice to get into doing.

Got ya - they are going to have 8 foot fence on the grounds, then the coop yard fences, lastly they will have covered yards on both sides just going to cover them too - cause you never know what your going to need that run to be used for later!
