***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Morning

Looks like this is going to be a long day. DH is out of town for a retreat, but the neighbor's cows are in-front-pasture for A Treat. Some time after I put the goats away last night the cows decided our grass and what they didn't destroy in my garden the last time were too much to resist. I am going to wait until it's light to move them back to their own space (and then mend the fence). Herding with a flashlight makes me look like a frantic marshaller on a doomed airstrip. I don't want our other neighbor to see the light and think I'm being attacked by coyotes.

This means STOP YOU SILLY COWS! HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!!!!!

This means BACK AWAY FROM WHAT'S LEFT OF MY TOMATO PLANTS AND WALK IN AN ORDERLY FASHION BACK TO YOUR OWN PASTURE.

This is the response I will get. It means ANYTHING YOU SAY, SWEETIE. JUST GIVE US A FEW MORE MINUTES TO FINISH THE CARROTS AND WE'LL BE ON OUR WAY.

I had planned to take a few birds to Tulsa this morning. Blanchard, tonight, is soooo tempting, but it's over two hours away, and the Coweta auction is Friday. If it doesn't get too hot today, I think I will put some of the birds I'd planned to sell into the freezer. Have a great day, everyone.

Very funny - I remeber chasing cows out of my Grandma's garden when I was little. They went for the tender lettuce first.

Good morning all! My BIL is coming to get Chiquita (his Dog) today, I have to say I will miss her some, she is such a sweetheart, she and I hobble about the same speed when I take her out to potty and I do love PitBulls and Dobermans, But we have two house dogs already, so i guess I will have to let her go!!! I know it is a little warm for shipping eggs but on one of the egg auction sites there are some really good pics I thought you all that like Cochins (Bantaum) and Buff Orpingtons (Bantum) would enjoy, so here is a direct link to it. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/330991/crazy-24hr-auction/7920#post_9325368 We did get a really hard shower about 2am, it was short but we will take anything we can get right now! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!! Lynn

Congrats on the G.pigs P&B! I have gotten out of them for a while and wouldn't you know it,they have went sky high around here! Don't know what made the hike in prices but ones that used to go for #2-3 at auctions now bring $15-20!
Had another day of rain. Glad to have it but kind of would like it spread out over a few weeks rather than a few days! I have been penned up inside all wek so am really ready for sale day tomorrow!

P&B i had a litter of mini rex rabbits born this week. The doe next to her decided she should have babys to so she pulled hair and made a nest. She isn't due for two more weeks!lol. Everytime a doe next to her has babys she does this!I guess you could call it sympathy pains!lol
I didn't pay attention to what the guinea pigs at the last auction here brought. Maybe Jaxon would more cheerfully part with them if he were to recoup his purchase price - since he undoubtedly wants to buy something else.

A few years ago I had two does in the same cage, both of which I believed to be pregnant and due to kindle about the same time. One kindled and I considered the color of the fur in the nest and put that mama in a different pen with the kits. I didn't realize that the real mama had plucked her cage-mate almost bald instead of pulling her own fur.

Fortunately, I was able to get the correct mama hooked up with the kits before they starved.

SDS, yeah for Rose!!!!!!!!! And look at that beautiful brown egg! I hope the day goes much better now that she's under less internal pressure!

Alright! Aussies lay an egg about the same color.

Funny how the market runs. Smart rabbit...she is well prepared.

Poco...I feel your pain. We use 5 foot sections of 1/2 in - 3/4 inch pvc pipe as herding sticks. The work really good.

We have been busy working on canning and building a goose pen. Should finish the pen today, but the canning is on-going.
We are also having some calves born this week. one yesterday and looks like another today.
Loved all the picures of everyone's birds!

A few pics.
These chicks hatched on the 7th. Had one pop out two days ago...in the egg turner. It made it okay and is doing great

Sunflowers on the road to Harrah from Meeker..Hwy 62. Love this one with the one stand alone flower

What I've been canning this week:
Tomato Soup starter

And Senfgurken (Yellow cucumber) pickles with horseradish and Kosher Dill

amd Fresh Pack dill (brined for 18 hours and the jarred with steeped pickle spice) and Bread and Butter Jalepenos

I have more cucumbers and tomatoes to work up today.
Okra will be coming on enough to pickle those too beginning next week. Need to allow enough for fried okra for a while first. That is one veggie that everybody around here craves!

Need to go work on the pen while it is still cool.

morning everyone, lost a second silkie chick last nite, the remaining was shows no symptoms and is happily playing with a corncob- glad they weren't in contact with any others! rought nite though-

out to get things done outside
