***OKIES in the BYC III ***

You might try flipping them over and fencing the bottom in.. they would still get fresh ground but should be pretty much predator proof. Just a thought.

The bottom isn't the problem, they have pealed back the wire twice now. I am not sure that anything is going to stop them besides lead. They really tore up alot of stuff this time but the birds seem to have survived, I even found a roo yesterday.

Oh wow! That is some determined dogs.

What about running rebar rod along the bottom edge and wire it to the chicken wire. It will add a little weight but the A frames could still be moved and the stifness of the rod might kkep the dogs from getting a hold to tear it up. Nest suggestion would be a strip of 2 x 4 wire along the bottom edge.

Morning everyone,

Just did a walk-about of the pens and flowers. Not used to this schedule, too different from the school year. I'm sure I'll find a routine soon. Lost a chick and my oldest Partridge Cochin cockerel yesterday, cockerel to the heat? Need to get some chicken gatorade.
Going to Maud Auction tonight just to see what is up.
Hope everyone is well, sounds like yesterday wasn't so good.

How are your sister and Mom doing now....that's tough. Your family is in my prayers as are you...remember to take time for you, even if it's just an hour stolen here and there.
Let me know if you and Carl need any help with the flock.

Loving your babies. They are sooooooo cute!

We are doing good. Tired but good. They have been thinking this whole time that in was a vein with a small whole. Yesterday they went in to look and clamp it off(which had the potential to cause liver failure) but when they got in there there was no whole. The doctor said it looked like the vein was pinched and that clamping it off didnt look like it would fix the problem. Anyhow the pinch in the vein is causing the blood to back up and that is why she is bleeding so much. He said he could stick a balloon in the vein but was afraid since her pevious sergury to remove her gallbladder and reconstruct her liver lines that the pinch might be a stitch area and didnt want to tear anything. So he was confused on which way to proceed. That is why he is speaking to the liver doctor today. She spent 5 hours in recovery yesterday and they didnt even do anything to her, they just couldnt get her back to her room until she stopped passing blood. They got her back to her room in MICU about 9 last night and were getting ready to give her 6 more units of blood. At least there is a different hope after what he said yesterday that they will not be clamping that vein off and therefor cause all sort of complications.

I hope they can figure out the problem stephanie....hey, GUY, whats goin on? The ER at 2:30 A.M.? Whats goin on?

word to the wise, it is the baby copper head that can kill you, the older a copper head is; the less toxic is it's poison.

My dad has been killing a lot of viscous man eating sticks and limbs lately. may need to take away his flip gun.

Well, crap.

This morning has started out great. First the van wouldn't start so I had to drive my wife to work in the truck. When I came home and was opening the gate to our property the rott next door came after me (bluffing as usual) and my female Pyr went after him and about killed him. I was trying to pull her off and he panicked and bit me on the arm, ripping it open on the top of my wrist (fortunately not the bottom). Gotta find out if his shots are up to date (and make sure he is okay) and make a trip to the ER to see if it needs stitches.

I should know better than to try to break up a fight between two big dogs with my bare hands, but my male Pyr (The Bear) was about to join in along with my lab and if that had happened that would likely have been the end of him. I did get her off of him, though. Obviously I need to spend more time with discipline training.

The good side is I'm about to run pick up 10 RIRs to add to my laying flock.
