How are your sister and Mom doing now....that's tough. Your family is in my prayers as are you...remember to take time for you, even if it's just an hour stolen here and there.
Let me know if you and Carl need any help with the flock.
Loving your babies. They are sooooooo cute!
We are doing good. Tired but good. They have been thinking this whole time that in was a vein with a small whole. Yesterday they went in to look and clamp it off(which had the potential to cause liver failure) but when they got in there there was no whole. The doctor said it looked like the vein was pinched and that clamping it off didnt look like it would fix the problem. Anyhow the pinch in the vein is causing the blood to back up and that is why she is bleeding so much. He said he could stick a balloon in the vein but was afraid since her pevious sergury to remove her gallbladder and reconstruct her liver lines that the pinch might be a stitch area and didnt want to tear anything. So he was confused on which way to proceed. That is why he is speaking to the liver doctor today. She spent 5 hours in recovery yesterday and they didnt even do anything to her, they just couldnt get her back to her room until she stopped passing blood. They got her back to her room in MICU about 9 last night and were getting ready to give her 6 more units of blood. At least there is a different hope after what he said yesterday that they will not be clamping that vein off and therefor cause all sort of complications.
At least one thing has been eliminated from the list of things that coul be the problem. Wonder if a vein by-pass might be considered now...if that's even possible.

No, I dont think so. That is what they were kind of wanting to try to begin with. They wanted to clamp that vein and hope that the smaller veins around the area would take over. Now it looks like they have to try something different. We will find out today what the liver doctor says.
After I check on the neighbor's dog and pick up my birds first, though.
Are those priorities a little skewed or what...get chickens and then go to ER... I'm sure you tended your wound and know the stitching can hold a bit, but... Keep us posted.

The bottom isn't the problem, they have pealed back the wire twice now. I am not sure that anything is going to stop them besides lead. They really tore up alot of stuff this time but the birds seem to have survived, I even found a roo yesterday.
Oh wow! That is some determined dogs.
More like stupid dogs. If I didn't have kids they wouldn't be here.
I will never own another one.
