***OKIES in the BYC III ***

We trapped a momma with 5 tiny kits on her back a few years ago. I know the litter can have up to 8 during a good year. With the drought, I wonder about the litter size.

Since you are catching them so quickly, do they appear to be young?

Possums only have even numbers of kits in a litter so she must have lost one. Also all the babies in one litter are all the same gender. -  Very strange and kind of unevolved critters they are!

You're thinking of armadillos. They are the ones always having 4 same sex babies.
I used to sell baby possums to a exotic pet dealer and have taken both sexes from the mommas pouch.

Can't imagine wanting a possum for a pet....

After all, they call road kill armadillo "possum on the half shell" when they're on their back.

Tony you beat me to that one LOL I think the confusion comes from the faux fact that the scientific name for both is Asidedaroadious Deadeous
My count went up to 11 possums so far this year the last one being very young maybe almost half grown and since I was feeling bad about shooting them to get them out of the traps this one made himself useful and I shouldn't have to feed my python again till spring LOL she looks almost miserable kinda like me after thanksgiving dinner

Tracy, I found out today from DH that these were in Blanchard, not Edmond. But I am sure they are u pand over your way too. DH saw one chase a deer thru our yard about 6 years ago. Joe came right back inside and let the cat have the whole place for as long as he wanted.

Where at out by Blanchard? Maybe this is what got my bros chickens?

Coming home tonight I screamed for DH to slam on the brakes as something was crossing the rd. it was an adorable momma coon & her babies. Then I realized coons are not our friends, but they sure did look cute.

My leghorn chickens still have longer than normal nails & one of them got caught up in the deer netting today. It was just sitting nicely & 30 min later was still in the same spot. She wasn't fussing & I think she just would have stayed there unnoticed. Glad it wasn't a hot day or she wouldn't have made it. Also noticed a few more roosters today. Not because more showed up, but I am sure Taron has been hiding them somewhere to protect them from the freezer. We need to get a solid rooster count this weekend!
This afternoon I had the windows open enjoying the breeze. Bambi came up & began eating the screen off the window. She is full of personality, she took a nap on the porch this afternoon. Silly goat!

It looks like you missed :) it`s still kickin` a bit! We rent from Redbox and like `em, they send the wife free rentals via her phone.

Good morning friends and neighbors!

It looks like we dodged some storms here yesterday but the weather guessers are calling for strong thunderstorms for today....there is a little activity on the radar out west so they might be right this time.

The sun is almost up and it`s time for me to go down and check on the little rascals....I hope y`all have a good `n!

Bill - I just wanted to share with you that we moved our pigs last night :p Mind you I am now 8 months pregnant and I had to sit on a pot belly pig..... Anyway, I completely understand why you were late when I met you to pick them up now :) HAHAHA Chris and I were both covered in pig **** by the end of it :p I'll try to post a pic of the buggers later!
