***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I use 2.25 ml for each gal of water for 3-5 days. I write the dosage on my goats bottle of liquid safeguard just so I don't forget! I worm again in 10-14 days & dont sale the eggs but feed the eggs to the birds or dogs for at least 3 days after each worming. Best to worm when egg production is low so it doesn't feel so painful tossing all the eggs.
Thanks for the info.

I got some Gallimycin and it has worked great on my hen! She has had that rattle oft and on since I got her about a year ago but two days after I started her on the Gallimycin there was no rattle. She has never acted sick and lays consistently. In fact, she is one of only two laying now. The other is a pullet that has been laying for 2 months now but her sisters, the same age, haven't yet. The rattling hen and the pullet were both in the garage during the dog attack so maybe the others are still tramatized? It has been more than two months since the attack but moulting time came after that. Who knows the mind of a hen -

Last night at Newcastle I talked with Carrie, a chicken friend of Jack's that lives near us. She has several breeds and is the person looking for Buff Orpingtons. Her oldest Grandson, Joshua, is often with with her. He is maybe 15 and raises Burbon Reds and Ameraucanas. His Ameraucanas are still laying; 14 hens are still producing 10 to 14 eggs a day! He wouldn't tell me his secret.

MJ awesome to hear you had good results with the meds!!
DH & Alexis butchered 6 drakes & 2 Roos. Alexis says ducks are easier than chickens since they have a larger cavity makes them easier to clean. Taron said if we have over 70 hens why did we only get 4 eggs today??? Once again was all brown eggs. I am sure the EE have a nest going somewhere else, they are the worst at laying in secret spots. Bailiff is always the one to find the nest for us.
Oh-- I was lucky to get 6 drakes done. Some of them were so nice when you let them they snuggle next to you like a cat & their feathers are so soft. They are so nice-- at least those were all arguments from Taron. We still have 3 silver appleyard, 2 runners & the pair of mandarins so I think one of those may have to become her new snugly favorite.

McG did you get your Roos done??
Robin forgot to say glad the chick is doing well. It's a cutie!

I believe I am using the same kind. It is about $20 from atwoods, I draw it into a syringe to measure it & mix it in their water.
