. Maybe if I build another pen but he won't help with anymore pen building (at least not willingly, haha). Here I thought our little silkie chick was a cutie but that polish chick is sooo sweet!
oh yes i love my polish so much i bought 16 more lol hear are my new ones i also got two silkies and some packing peanuts.

Christina, you and your family re in my prayers as you prepare for your surgery tomorrow.

Glad to hear the rooster with the shot wing is getting better..

Lost two hens this morning. One with the sniffles I had to cull and the other was a CW hen that appeared to be egg bound. She died in my arms as I was giving her a once over.
Spent the morning checking babies, teens, pullets, hens and roos for any sign of sniffles and gave Tylan 50 shots to those with watery eyes even if they weren't yet breathing hard. Set up Duramycin waterers and ACV waterers in every pen section. Four pullets/hens that have gone broody won't be deterred. So I gave them ceramic eggs and golf balls.
Going to move cows so will check in later.
I lost 4 young birds today and another is sick! I cleaned pens yesterday and they all were fine. They have never been on the ground, never outside at all. The dead one had very bloody stools. I put Selmet in their water. I don't know if it is Cocid or even if they are too young for the Selmet.

I got a very interesting large egg from our buff Minorca "Baby Buff". I thought I would share the picture with you all, and just so you know, She DID in fact take the day after off from laying any eggs. She was very proud of her large egg!

Impressive. Does it have 2 yolks? I'd take a week off if I was her.

she is not 100 per cent polish that is for sure the nose is not right and the crest is kind of small could be a mix of some sort. Or dose it have feathered feet or more than 4 toes if it dose it could be a sultan or a houdan? or maybe a Crevecoeurs i have never seen one but i have polish she is not one.
.

This is my sl polish girl:

this is her with her hair up

this is when she was younger

Adorable! I love the pony tail.

We have 3 more sick birds today & lost one (it was a roo that harassed ladies all day). Fat Louie is one of the new sick birds. If anything happens to fat Louie while I am at the hospital Taron will be a wreck.
Also I noticed the Muscovy flock is thinning out. No sign of where they have went.
Those polish were awfully pretty. We have raised some & predator got them. Hatched some but had awful hatch rate. I am guessing that means they are not the best bird for us.
Cathie-- don't forget you have a swing set that is already a solid coop frame-- that means it is half way done. Maybe you can get other half for Christmas.

Anyway, Tony-here's a couple shots of the Spitzhaubens. The remaining cockerel still 'looks' sick to me (his eyes) but he acts fine.
I also got the sweetest sounding red factor Canary last night, he's adorable and has the nicest little singing voice. Isn't he cute?? I'm loving the caged indoor birds. At least I have control over what they're exposed to. Thank God my little Serama boy is inside.
Christina, I'll be thinking of you all day tomorrow!!!!

Mine surely isn’t a Polish hen. Not near enough of a hat. I know that wasn't a very good picture of my hen, but other than the extra facial feathers, she looks a lot like yours in person. Thanks for the pictures. Same body style and leg color. Could she be a bearded Spitz?

So sorry about your young roo. I hope your older one is ok. BTW, That is a beautiful Canary.

I do like those Polish. The biggest problem I ever had with them was the preditors because they can't see very well.

The man & woman that I got her from said they bought her as a Spitz, but then she had a some mixed chickens too. She is clean legged with 3 toes, so none of the above.

Yep that can be a problem if you free range them but if you want you can clip there crest so they can see better or put it up in a pony tail but i don't like how they look when you clip them . I don't free rage my polish they are in a coup with a run.
