***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Greetings everyone, I'm sorry I'm just a lurker and don't do much of any posting.
I am looking for someone who has Blue laced red wyandots. Some one maybe close to south central OK?
I'd like to get some eggs or some chicks or maybe even a breeding pair or trio.
I thought this would be a good place to ask.
You can reply here if you know of anyone or you can e-mail me private.
I appreciate any help you can give.
Thanks, Cheryl

Great to see you here, Cheryl! Did you sell your extra paint showgirl? I bought a paint silkie cockerel from Brenda at Shawnee last week, and she gave me another one--not quite as good as the one I bought--because they didn't have room for him after buying a few themselves. I have one young paint silkie hen I got as a very young chick from Bren's flock at Shawnee last year, and so far, she's produced one paint showgirl babe that didn't make it past a couple of days--wouldn't eat--and a silkie paint that hatched a week ago. She's in a pen with two white showgirl hens and a white showgirl roo, so some of the other chicks may also be hers, but I've no way of telling. I've got 21 eggs from that pen developing in an incubator now.

One of these days we'll get to Shawnee, or somewhere else at the same time!

Checking in ... have the flu. Yuck, yuck, and yuck some more. Have 3 white holland turkey eggs fertile and growing in the incubator and added 12 more two days ago (I think, the days are kinda running together). Have 6 poults sold if we ever get them to hatch, which is promising since we want to breed and sell turkeys full time eventually. Guess it's our first step in the process. Hoping to get a new book called "mini-farming" for Christmas that shows how to grow 80% of vegetables plus earn up to $10,000 a year on 1/4 acre.

Hope everyone is doing okay.

Sorry for the flu, but glad things are going well for your turkey venture.

I am in a big quandry about Ari my little rumpless tufted araucana roo

I have very limited space for roos, so I don't think I am going to be able to keep him. I was going to hatch a few eggs from him and my EE girls, but he is so tiny. I was out watching them yesterday trying to pick the girls I would put him with, and he is like 1/2 to 2/3 the size of my hatchery EE females. I really want to keep full size birds as the layers and the DP, but he is soooo pretty.

I just aquired a pair of rumpless. The roo is a beautiful solid black, but is larger than what I wanted. He may be able to do the dead with a standard size hen. Do you just have to many roosters, or would you be interested in a trade? I'm wanting a smaller roo, and the color doesn't matter.

Got 5 eggs from my Wheaten Ameraucana pair in Jack's hatcher! These are some of the pullet's first eggs and all were fertile! Good chicken!

Quote: will have to poke around the web and see what kind of info i can find- we are being inundated in the house, another hen with a cut foot, on top of a little bumble- sure does make for a busy noisy morning! everyone is in cages, and now my faverolle is sneezing..... got him and his girls in isolation since they will have been exposed - can't hear anything in his lungs, so maybe i caught it early- does tetracycline work on respiratory? have a bottle of caps of it here

Congrats on the eggs Mary Jo...pretty hen.

Sooner...Merry Christmas to you too. This time of year there are many distractions and family commitments that keeping up with the threads is not easy.

Poco...so happy your granddaughter Kendall is now home!

We got a smidgen of rain. how did everyone else do?

My flock losses have been nil for 10 days now and I have only one hen in a pen that I'm watching. She is much better this morning and will let her down this evening.
The Spangled OEGB I bought in Shawnee show is in quarantine for two more weeks and then she gets introduced to the flock in a cage.
Setting up breeding pens (on paper for now) for the spring breeding program. Looks like there will be 13 sets.... Gonna have to set up a tracking document and figure out a toe punch plan. And order some spiral leg bands....and get pens built...and the list goes on....
