***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Artsyrobin, there has been some disscusion on the NN thread about NN x serema. I thought I remembered that was what Dragon is, I posted some pics I still have of her if you want to add to the conversation thought I would let you know.

This is a bit of a random question, but would anyone in central(ish) Oklahoma want to go in with me on an order in the spring from MyPetChicken.com? I would want to order 2 girl mille fleur D'uccles and can't have any more than that, but the minimum order for my town is 8. I would pay for mine and split shipping and come to your place or meet wherever to pick them up. I'm not sure how the availability dates would work out to correspond, but we could work that out if we got that far. Just wondering if anything like this would even be a possibility.

thanks for letting me know- i was thinking maybe oegb rather than serama? not sure- it would be cute to cross them though-

since putting galahad on the sugar/betadine poultice and penG, his swelling in the foot is going down, so will keep at it- i haven't found anything about giving the penG orally, but i suspect it is a different type of penicilin- like Les mentioned- i also lowered all the roosts to knee high- a few stink eyes, but after this bout of bumblefoot, i want to limit any risk to the feet- so while the coop isn't 'cute' they seem to like it- i put a barrier to keep the litter away from the shed doors, since they gum it up pretty bad

edited to add:

just found this in an old post here on penicillin-

Congrats on the eggs Mary Jo...pretty hen.
Sooner...Merry Christmas to you too. This time of year there are many distractions and family commitments that keeping up with the threads is not easy.
Poco...so happy your granddaughter Kendall is now home!
We got a smidgen of rain. how did everyone else do?
My flock losses have been nil for 10 days now and I have only one hen in a pen that I'm watching. She is much better this morning and will let her down this evening.
The Spangled OEGB I bought in Shawnee show is in quarantine for two more weeks and then she gets introduced to the flock in a cage.
Setting up breeding pens (on paper for now) for the spring breeding program. Looks like there will be 13 sets.... Gonna have to set up a tracking document and figure out a toe punch plan. And order some spiral leg bands....and get pens built...and the list goes on....
I am way behind in reading the board but Poco glad to hear that grandbaby is home!

Nana, glad to hear your losses are down as well. I hope that cold spell (as mild as it was) helped a bit. We haven't lost any since the 3rd but I did have one yesterday that seemed off to me so put him in quarentine. I hate to do that but it was better safe than sorry since he is one of my free ranging birds and could infect the entire place if left to run loose. I started him on gallimycin as well just to be safe.

We spent the afternoon yesterday moving birds around a bit. I have an a-frame still open but also have a brooder of birds I am weaning from their heat light that may use it. Went through all the boys birds yesterday as well. Looks like Jack has 2 trios of Bantam Buff Brahmas to part with. All but one of the pullets I hate to part with they are feathering out so well but he can't keep them all. I am letting him keep 5 pullets and one roo as well as his original breeding pair he started with. Dh wants him to sell them but I don't think he will he is to attached to them. Also penned up my new BA roo with 5 of my best BA girls to start breeding. Poor thing has been single to long and kept trying to get out of the pen vs. flirting with the girls lol. I told dh after we moved birds that I really need 3 more pens built for breeding (we all know how that went over lol). Of course to my shock he agreed we needed to build some bantam cochin pens for the boys and that would free up some of my pens I already have.

Hope everyone has a good week, it is going to be crazy here at work and with the nice temps i hope to get home in the evening to get at least 30 mins of work done outside at home.

I'm new here, and was just wondering if anyone in NE Oklahoma has any pure bred Araucana's

and the Okie thread.

banjoejoe has araucana he is over in the area of Tahlequah "ish", ksane does but she isn't in eastern OK, I have 2 males. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

He doen't post often, but a lot of people read more then they post, I'd send him a pm he would be more likely to see that then a post on the thread.
Ok thank you, I've got about every color of egg layers but those and have been trying to get some, I've got 36 araucana eggs in the incubator I got through the mail but looks like they all got scrambled. I haven't had much luck with getting eggs through the mail.
